For decades, it has been a prominent force, celebrating and sharing Latinx cultures through the transformative power of dance. The organization’s mission is to be a beacon of artistic excellence, providing a platform for professional dancers to showcase their extraordinary talent on stages like City Center, while also nurturing the next generation of artists through its comprehensive school. As a professional company, Ballet Hispánico is known for its technical brilliance, passionate performances, and emotionally charged productions that captivate audiences. For New Yorkers who appreciate the arts, seeing a Ballet Hispánico performance is an experience that can be truly "blown away" by the combination of passion and technical precision. The company's unique blend of classical and contemporary styles, infused with Latinx influences, creates a distinctive and unforgettable artistic voice. Beyond the stage, The Ballet Hispánico School offers a range of programs for young dancers, instilling in them not only dance technique but also an appreciation for cultural heritage. It is a place that holds a complex identity within the New York community, representing both a high-caliber professional entity and a local educational institution, which can lead to varied perspectives on its overall impact and approach.
Ballet Hispánico and its school are centrally located on Manhattan's Upper West Side, at 167 W 89th St, New York, NY 10024, USA. This location makes it easily accessible for families and individuals living throughout the city's boroughs. Situated in a culturally rich and well-connected neighborhood, the building is conveniently reachable via public transportation, including the subway and various bus lines. For those who choose to drive, there is a paid multi-storey car park nearby, which provides a viable parking option in a dense urban area where street parking can be challenging. The organization is also committed to accessibility for all visitors, offering a wheelchair-accessible entrance. This feature ensures that the school and its events are open to everyone, making the art of dance more inclusive. The location on the Upper West Side places the organization within a hub of artistic and educational institutions, providing an ideal setting for a dance company and school. The proximity to other cultural landmarks and public transit options makes it a practical and appealing choice for New Yorkers seeking high-quality dance education and performance. The convenience and accessibility of the address are key factors that make it a feasible option for families across the city, from Brooklyn to The Bronx.
The Ballet Hispánico School offers a variety of services and programs for dancers of all ages, though specific class details are not fully provided. Based on the nature of a major dance school, the services would likely include:
- A comprehensive School of Dance, offering classes for various age groups and skill levels.
- Programs that combine classical ballet technique with Latinx dance styles.
- Training for young dancers, from beginners to those with advanced aspirations.
- Performance opportunities for students to showcase their skills.
- Classes focused on technique, choreography, and artistic expression.

The duality of Ballet Hispánico as both a professional company and a school provides a unique educational environment. Students at the school have the opportunity to be part of an organization that is actively performing and creating new work, which can be an inspiring and motivating experience. The curriculum is likely designed to not only teach technical skills but also to instill a deep appreciation for the cultural heritage that the company celebrates. The exposure to the company's performers and choreographers can be an invaluable part of a student's training. The reputation of the company for "technical brilliance" and "passion" suggests that its school would be a place where students are held to a high standard, with a focus on discipline and expressive performance. This structure aims to provide a rigorous and enriching dance education for students in the New York City area. The school's offerings are likely designed to be a complete dance program, from introductory classes for young children to advanced training for pre-professional students.
Ballet Hispánico and its school are defined by several key features and highlights that make it a prominent part of New York City's cultural scene. These include:

- A unique mission to celebrate and share Latinx cultures through dance, making it a culturally significant institution in New York.
- A dual function as both a professional performing company and an educational institution, providing a direct link between training and professional opportunities.
- A commitment to accessibility, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance.
- Accepts a variety of modern payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, for convenience.
- Located in a prime location on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, easily accessible to residents throughout the city.
- Offers a paid multi-storey car park nearby, a valuable amenity in a city where parking is scarce.
- The organization is "good for kids," signaling a focus on providing a welcoming environment for young dancers.
These features position Ballet Hispánico as a multifaceted and important organization. The public perception, however, can be varied. While the professional company receives praise for its artistic excellence and captivating performances, as seen in the review of its work at City Center, the school's reputation can be subject to differing opinions. A conflicting review mentions that the school may not be seen as a place that "conveys good values and good dancing," which highlights a potential disparity between the public-facing company and the day-to-day operations of the educational arm. This dichotomy is a significant feature of the organization, and it's important for potential students and their families to consider both aspects. The organization's strong presence and cultural mission are undeniable highlights, but the individual experiences within the school can vary.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I don't know about the school, but I do know that the performers at Ballet Hispánico are extraordinary. Not sure when this happened because it didn't used to be the case. We saw Ballet Hispánico's Carmen.maquia at City Center and were blown away by the technical brilliance of the dancers, backed by passion and rage. The stark whiteness of the costumes and setting can be unnerving but the perfection of the dance makes the whiteness bearable. So happy to have this superb dance company in New York--and, amazingly enough, on the UWS.
June 21 · Julia Vitullo-MartinBallet Hispanico does not care about their kids. They care only about money and about their own ego. They are repeatedly rude and unkind, and I would not leave my child in their care. Additionally, their teachers are subpar and not very good dancers themselves, so they certainly are not great teachers do not send your child here if you care about conveying good values and good dancing both of which are sorely lacking at Ballet Hispanico.
June 04 · Atara TwerskyExcellent teachers, very supportive, friendly, and easy to reach staff members. The organization is well run. When you or your dancer needs help with something the best approach is to talk with someone in the School of Dance. They are all helpful and clear. I have rarely met such kind and helpful and professional people in any walk of life. The dance education is sophisticated, challenging, and thorough
June 21 · John HoganWorst school in manhattan! Director Michelle Manzanales is a horrible human being and has absolutely no compassion. All the old staff left the school. The school is not what it used to be. DO NOT GO HERE. Your child will be mentally and verbally abused by Michelle and her office staff!!! Would give it 0 stars if I could
