Ballet RI Introduce
Ballet RI, a dance school located in the vibrant city of Providence, Rhode Island, is dedicated to providing high-quality dance education and fostering a love for ballet in students of all ages. The school offers a diverse range of programs, from its nurturing Creative Movement classes for the youngest dancers to its comprehensive Day School for aspiring pre-professional students. The core philosophy of Ballet RI is to deliver a strong foundation in classical ballet while also offering a welcoming and inclusive environment. The school’s curriculum is designed to meet students at every stage of their development, ensuring that each dancer, regardless of their age or ability, receives the instruction and attention they need to grow. The quality of the instruction is a highlight for many families, with many students noting that they have learned a great deal and loved their time in class. The focus on providing excellent dance training is at the heart of the school's mission.
In addition to its structured programs, Ballet RI offers specialized services such as its Adaptive Program, which is a key feature that demonstrates a commitment to making dance accessible to a wider community. This inclusive approach, along with the school’s dedication to high-quality teaching, makes it a notable option for families seeking a dance education. Students have praised the teachers for their effective instruction and the positive learning environment they create. The programs are designed to be enriching, helping children not only to learn dance skills but also to develop discipline, coordination, and a sense of rhythm. From after-school classes that fit into a busy family schedule to intensive summer programs for those looking to immerse themselves in dance, Ballet RI provides a variety of options that cater to different goals and levels of commitment. The school’s reputation for having skilled and dedicated teachers is a significant draw for many parents in the Rhode Island area.
Ballet RI is conveniently located at 825 Hope St in Providence, RI 02906, placing it in a central and accessible area for residents across the state. The school is particularly focused on ensuring a high level of physical accessibility, with a number of thoughtful features in place. This includes a wheelchair-accessible car park, a wheelchair-accessible entrance, wheelchair-accessible seating in performance areas, and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. These amenities demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusivity and make the facility welcoming to all visitors. For families with young children, the availability of ample parking is also a major convenience. Ballet RI provides free of charge street parking, a free parking lot, and on-site parking, which significantly eases the logistics of drop-offs and pick-ups. The location and accessibility features combine to create a stress-free and welcoming experience from the moment you arrive at the school.
The school also offers modern and convenient payment options, accepting credit cards and debit cards in addition to traditional checks. This flexibility in payment makes the registration process more manageable for busy parents. While the school's instruction receives positive feedback, some reviews highlight challenges with administrative policies and communication. A key point of contention for some parents has been the school’s enrollment policy, which requires a full 24-week payment and may not offer refunds or accommodations for changing circumstances, especially for very young children. Other concerns have been raised about administrative interactions, with some parents reporting unprofessional exchanges and a lack of concern regarding parent safety concerns, such as icy parking lots. While these reviews do not reflect on the quality of instruction, they do provide a full picture of the school's operations from a customer perspective. It is important for potential clients to be aware of these administrative policies when considering enrollment, especially for long-term programs. These issues, while serious, do not diminish the fact that the teachers themselves are highly-regarded for their skills and dedication.

What is worth choosing?
When considering Ballet RI, it is essential to weigh the strong positives against the administrative challenges that some customers have reported. On the one hand, the quality of dance instruction is consistently lauded. Parents note that their children have loved the instruction and "learned quite a lot." The teachers are described as excellent, and their ability to provide a valuable learning experience is not in question. For a family whose primary concern is finding a place with skilled instructors and a strong ballet program, Ballet RI presents a compelling option. The availability of an Adaptive Program is also a major advantage, as it shows a clear commitment to serving a diverse range of students. The physical accessibility of the facility, with its wheelchair-accessible amenities and ample parking, also makes it a practical choice for many families.
However, it is crucial to consider the administrative issues raised in the reviews. Reports of a "very unprofessional exchange," a lack of accommodation for families with young children, and a "deliberate obfuscation" of enrollment policies are serious concerns. The need to "forfeit your entire 24-week payment" in case of changing circumstances is a policy that requires careful consideration before enrollment. Furthermore, the reports of a dismissive attitude from some administrative staff regarding parental concerns, such as safety in the parking lot, are significant. For a potential customer, it is important to understand that while the teaching staff is highly-rated, the administrative side of the business may present challenges. Therefore, Ballet RI is worth choosing for its high-quality instruction and diverse programs, but prospective families should be forewarned to thoroughly inquire about all policies, especially those related to payment and cancellations, to ensure they are comfortable with the terms before committing to a program.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Fraudulent Practice; You must be prepared to forfeit your entire 24-week payment. My husband and I were generally pleased with our daughter’s instruction, but we suffered a change of opinion—echoed by others in these reviews—about the school administration following a very unprofessional exchange with the registrar. There is, unfortunately, an apparently deliberate—and ultimately unprofessional and costly—obfuscation of enrollment policy. Parents of toddlers, please be forewarned that there is no attempt made to accommodate changing circumstances for very young children. You must be prepared to forfeit your entire 24-week payment.RESPONSE to OWNER RESPONSE: I'm not sure there's any way for me to publish email correspondence between myself and the administration—thus proving their utter dishonesty—but that correspondence would clearly show that no attempt whatsoever was made to explain registration policy at the time of my initial inquiry (March 2025). Rather, a deliberate obfuscation of that policy implied that my good-faith desire to pause and resume instruction due to unforeseeable circumstances would be honored.
August 20 · Maria BoseI give 5 stars to the teachers here. My daughter was there for a year in 2022 and loved the instruction. She also learned quite a lot. However the administration is horrible. I had been warned by other parents who had been yelled at during showcase rehearsals. I’d also heard that they are often dismissive of parent concerns. I learned this first hand when the woman at the front desk disagreed that icy and rainy conditions in the parking lot make the parking lot a dangerous place for kids to stand and wait to enter their class. She yelled and insisted that no other parents had a problem with this so why should I? The director was also unconcerned. They are great at what they teach but seriously need new management.
September 06 · Shanelle HaileI went to a contemporary ballet performance at Ballet RI and found it to be both unique and amazing. Wasn't sure what to expect and glad to have experienced the remarkable performances. I viewed the different studios this establishment holds where teaching and encouragement of individuals of all ages and genders are welcome. This is a very nice place to learn and experience the beauty of the art of ballet.
September 10 · Bob AMy child finished the summer program with Ms. D and signed up for the fall semester.Amy facilitated the transaction. She was most knowledgeable as well as welcoming but she was also thorough with the forms. Very efficient and detailed: I appreciate that level of service. She recommended the next program to fit my child’s skill level. She also provided tips and told me more about what this company had to offer. The interaction was so great especially for a new dance mom like myself. Many thanks to Amy for all the help.
August 03 · S BradleyThis place is a joke. They try to rip off other companies.
