★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My twin daughters have been apart of this program for 4 years now. I’ll never forget the first year they attended. I’m a single father so to me it was just another summer program and a way to get them out the house so I could work. But my daughters glorified this program so much they insisted they return the next year. The following year they came home every day with different stories of all these different experiences this program was opening them up to. From dancing to music, to actually making their own music. Their stories were so impressive I actually signed up to volunteer. This program hands down is the best thing for all kids and teens in central Illinois. The exposure that this program gives these kids and teens is truly life changing, I’ve witnessed it myself. Thanks for all you guys do and keep doing it!!!
May 02 · terrance bullardBCAI’s Summer Arts Exposure Program was one of the best parts of my summer. I got to try so kany cool things - like painting, maryial arts, and even making mysic. Everybody there is really supportive and it felt good to be in a space where I could be myself. I made new friends and learned a lot about myself! Would definitely recommend to other teens.
July 28 · cassie chaseBCAI is a wonderful organization. Our community is blessed to have it. My children have participated in the self defense class and have greatly benefited from it. They have learned skills to help protect themselves, discipline, and teamwork. Their confidence has improved and they have learned their bodies have abilities they didn’t know they were capable of. They have made new friends, and honestly, we are one big family!!! The instructors are knowledgeable, kind, flexible, and understanding. When students struggle to pay attention or lack confidence, the instructors (and other participants) encourage and support their family member. No one is ever left behind or told to sit out. BCAI is truly an amazing place and experience. We look forward to joining the dance classes and participating in the summer program in the future.
May 21 · Steph TI have 3 kids in BCAI’s co creation dance class for 3-6 year olds. This is a small class in which I feel my kids are seen as people first and foremost. My daughter had expressed wanting to be in a dance class and this program was of interest to me over other options locally as I hoped it would also provide cultural affirmation and representation for my daughter. The program has exceeded what I was hoping for in that it also meets each of my kids where they’re at and embraces their individual backgrounds, strengths and weaknesses, and neurodiversities. This class has provided a healthy outlet for my kids to be themselves while also instilling the importance of having a foundational respect of their peers. The instructors have an incredible amount of patience and understanding for each student as an individual and treat the kids with dignity and love. As a parent, I can see the priority the instructors have of creating a safe space for the kids to grow and be authentic to themselves but also a space where they feel comfortable making mistakes and learning. While this is labeled a dance class, more importantly I’ve seen that my kids are taught the values and foundational skills that make kids successful in the pursuit of their passions long term (examples: team work, empathy, bodily awareness, respect of self and others, self confidence, etc etc).
November 28 · Emily CaughronAn awesome place for my kids to have fun, learn authentic break dance and get an introduction to other cultural hip hop dance styles. They have been able to perform in front of many and get past their anxiety and normal shyness.
