Breakout Dance Competition Introduce
In the world of competitive dance, the right environment can make all the difference for a dancer's growth and confidence. For the dance community in New Jersey, one name that stands out for its positive and professional approach is Breakout Dance Competition. This innovative company is committed to creating a memorable and empowering experience for all who participate—dancers, studio owners, teachers, and families alike. Based in Lawrence Township, Breakout has quickly become a favorite on the regional dance circuit, known for its unique atmosphere and dedication to transcending the traditional competition mold. It's a place where talent is celebrated, constructive feedback is provided, and every participant, from the smallest studio to the largest, feels seen and valued.
Breakout Dance Competition is not just about the scores; it's about the journey. The organization focuses on creating a positive vibe that leaves dancers feeling motivated and inspired. This commitment to a dancer-centered approach is a core principle of the company, which was founded on strong moral values and a deep love for dance. The staff and directors are consistently described as "top notch," professional, and caring, ensuring that every event runs smoothly and efficiently. This level of service is particularly appreciated by studio owners and directors, who feel supported from start to finish. Breakout's mission is to provide an all-inclusive event where performers can showcase their talents on a stage that truly ignites their desire to perform, complete with state-of-the-art dance floors, intelligent stage lighting, and a cutting-edge production value.
One of the most praised aspects of the competition is its judging panel. Comprised of fair and professional judges with extensive teaching experience, the critiques are designed to be constructive and encouraging. Dancers receive notes that they can use to improve their technique and artistry, which is, as one parent noted, "the whole point" of a competitive experience. This focus on growth over just winning ensures that every participant leaves with valuable feedback and a sense of accomplishment. The positive energy and good vibes are palpable, creating an environment where dancers, even those who are beginners, feel comfortable and supported.
Breakout Dance Competition's primary address is 2850 Brunswick Pike Suite 1, Lawrence Township, NJ 08648, USA. This location places it conveniently in the heart of central New Jersey, making it easily accessible for studios and families traveling from across the state and beyond. The strategic location near a major highway allows for a smooth commute, a significant benefit for attendees who may be traveling long distances.
Accessibility is a key priority for Breakout Dance Competition, ensuring that the events are open to everyone. The venues they use, including their main office location, feature a wheelchair-accessible car park and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. This commitment to inclusivity ensures that all participants, whether they are dancers, family members, or friends, can attend and enjoy the experience without any barriers. The attention to these details reflects the company's broader philosophy of creating a welcoming and supportive community for all.

Choosing a dance competition is an important decision for dancers and studios, and Breakout Dance Competition is worth choosing for several compelling reasons. The recurring theme in customer reviews is the fair judging and the incredibly supportive staff, which, as one studio owner noted, is "unmatched." This sense of fairness and personalized attention is particularly crucial for smaller studios that might otherwise feel "overlooked at competitions." Breakout’s commitment to providing a "growing, learning experience" and its focus on the kids having fun and learning is what dance competition should be about. The free master classes are a significant value-add, providing dancers with additional training opportunities beyond the competition stage. The events are described as "extremely well-run" and "organized," which speaks to the professionalism of the company. Breakout Dance Competition successfully blends a high-quality, professional production with a positive, family-friendly atmosphere, making it a top-notch choice for any dancer in New Jersey looking to showcase their talent and grow their skills.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Directors and staff were top notch! My girls had a great time at nationals in New Jersey July 2025! FREE MASTER CLASSES WERE FANTASTIC FOR THE DANCERS!!! My only "complaint" is that One Beat media could have done a better job of featuring more dancers/studios for the media posts! Thanks Breakout for a GREAT Week!!
July 21 · Jessica ElbonWe absolutely love Breakout. We have attended since their inaugural year and will continue to put them on our schedule. Judging is fair, the competition is family-friendly, and the staff is unmatched. As a small studio we can sometimes feel overlooked at competitions, but that is never the case with Breakout. This competition is top notch!!
May 09 · Dance Dynamics Maryland (Katy Huffer)My review is regarding Breakout Nationals only. I am giving them a 2 because the staff was nice and very happily traded pins with the dancers. It didn't matter if the pin was a rare pin from season 5, they traded with a smile on their face. Nationals was so long, the week lasted FOREVER. The hotel was so expensive. I had the luxury of my daughter dancing on Sunday and throughout the week up until the last day on Saturday. The food at the hotel was so expensive. The only good thing about the hotel was that parking was $10 for the week and you could come and go as many times as you wanted. The other plus was you could refill your Bobby Flay soda cup all day for free, and I found this out on the last day. I also wasn't super jazzed to walk past the casinos on our way to the venue. Also, the family pool was a glorified bath tub that only went to 3 feet and the 1st two guest from a room was complimentary and after that it was $9.99. Same rules as the Wifi. Enough about the hotel, and I understand these concerns should be a review of the hotel and not Breakout Nationals, but Breakout Nationals does have their Nationals at this venue every year. OK, Nationals, please do not schedule a lyrical duet as the last number before awards. Please. My poor daughters were the last number before awards at 9:30 PM. They were not even off of the stage before that Awards song, dunt dunt dunt, came on and then straight into Thunderstuck. The audience was so loud. Other dancers were in the wings talking and being disruptive. They couldn't even get off the stage to put on their company jackets, It was like Walmart opening their doors on black Friday and people running to get the latest TV for a next to nothing cost. Breakout was so concerned about people filming in the audience then being rude and talking. My daughters have worked hard all year and couldn't even enjoy their last performance of this duet because people can not wait 3 minutes to get on stage or to cease their conversation. It is really aggravating. Who cares if people are filming, they are mostly grandparents who are so old that they think they are entitled to film little Susy doing her jazz solo. Breakout should be more concerned with the talking and the bombardment of dancers getting on stage for awards. My daughters didn't even sit on stage for this awards, mostly because they couldn't. All and all the week was eh.
August 19 · Molly NoyesWe strongly recommend Breakout Dance Competition for all levels of dancers. We attended Breakout for the first time this season and our experience all around was nothing but excellent. As a studio owner, we found the registration process, the level of customer service, scheduling, communication and professionalism to be fantastic. Our dancers really enjoyed their experience backstage, on stage and during awards. Our teachers were extremely pleased with the quality of critiques they received from all 3 judges and for all styles. We are a studio with a big Tap program and we were very happy with the judges Tap feedback and the Tap mics onstage. Our parents were very happy with the management of the competition as well. We’ve been competing for over 16 years and have experience with many companies. Breakout Dance Competition is definitely one of the best we’ve ever experienced.
February 27 · All For DanceWe had the honor of being a part of the first ever Breakout competition! We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our competition season. There was so much great talent there!Everything ran very smoothly. I loved having the livestream as well as TVs in the dressing room to know what # they were currently on. And I love having the photos and videos included with the entry fees! I can’t wait to watch them all again! This is my daughter’s 3rd year competing and we have been to many different competitions. Breakout is probably now one of my favorites!
