December 19, 2024Completed my final performance of the year at the studio Christmas party. A great evening with an awesome group of dance instructors and some very friendly and supportive students. Thanks to all for making it another great year. Special thanks to my instructors extraordinaire @Max Maleshko and @Matt Edwards....you make it all fun.August 2024Today is my 3-year anniversary of the day I walked into Dance Excellence Ballroom and signed up for my first lesson. I hadn’t planned on taking ballroom lessons, I wasn’t introduced by a friend, but instead I had been driving down the street, coming back from a Jazzercise class that I was trying out, saw the ballroom sign and just turned the car into the parking lot on an impulse. Three years later I’m still here and loving it.That first evening everyone was friendly and welcoming. The warmth of the greetings felt sincere and made me feel like I was being invited into a friendly and supportive community. Hesitant at first, reserved, I was a bit uncomfortable by the ease with which the instructors and students embraced each other saying when saying hello and good night. And what of this young man, my first instructor, who was about the same age as my son, and who was holding my hand as he led me across the room? And was I supposed to be comfortable to be in the arms of that young man as he swept me around the room in a Waltz to show me what is possible? I felt very conspicuous and a bit ridiculous; and yet it felt good. And rather than laughing at me, everyone was encouraging and cheering me on with each little success.I slowly learned the basic steps of a handful of dances. Feeling like I was clumsy and awkward, I got frustrated and very nearly quit multiple times. But sticking around after my own class time, I would watch some of the more advanced students glide gracefully around the dance floor and be mesmerized by the ease and beauty of their movement. That’s how I wanted to dance. That’s what kept me going. Maybe someday I will be able to dance even just a little bit like them.Three years in, and I am still awed by those other students and still trying to do even a little of what they do. But now some of the newer students will tell me how they watch me and wish they could dance like me. That means so much to me! I haven’t gotten as far as I want to go, but I have come a long way from that first day. The first instructor has moved on to another job and I am now working with 3 instructors. Two are my son’s age and slightly younger, and one is just a couple years older than my oldest grandson. I still feel a bit awkward about that sometimes, but I quickly forget about it when I’m dancing.The Dance Excellence tag line is “Changing lives in a single step… or two”. That is so very true for me. I have gone from a withdrawn, hesitant self to be more of my original self; more open and more self-assured. I’m healthier as well. Dancing gave me the impetus to finally stick to a weight loss plan and to join a gym so that now I am 45 lbs lighter and much stronger and more flexible. And I have gained numerous social connections that allow me to enjoy my dancing beyond the studio walls.That day 3 years ago was my birthday; I was out and about spoiling myself. Now today, on a milestone birthday, I look back at that random decision to turn the steering wheel into the studio parking lot and know that simple decision was a watershed moment in my life. 3 years later, I can dance, but so much more.

I was invited to share the joy of ballroom dancing by a friend four months ago, signed up immediately and am having the time of my life. The instructors are talented professionals who not only concentrate on the student's understanding of the nuances of each dance, they readily share their joy with you.If you have ever considered dance lessons, I encourage you to join us one Tuesday evening for Guest Night at Dance Excellence Ballroom. You'll witness a wonderful sight. What a great way to begin 2025!!

I have been dancing for about 12 years and I can honestly say Dance Excellence Ballroom is the best studio I've ever been to. The studio is beautiful, the staff amazing, the group classes and practice parties are so informative and fun and the students are wonderful. The instructors are top notch experienced and brings out the best in every student.As a competitive dancer I can honestly say, it doesn't get better than DEX. Stefan Dobrev has created the best dance atmosphere you could ask for. Come join the fun.............you won't be disappointed.

The instructors at this studio have brought a lot of joy to my husband and I over the last 4 months. We had never had any type of dance training or lessons before and were not confident we could learn ballroom dancing. However, in just a few months they have taught us the steps to several different dances. We have thoroughly enjoyed learning together, meeting new people at the group classes and parties and getting to know the fun, patient staff at the studio. If you’re on the fence about taking lessons, don’t delay! Stop in to talk them:) You only live once, so give it a whirl!
