Choosing a school for a child's artistic education is a significant decision, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem presents a compelling case for being a top choice in New York City. Its historical significance alone is a powerful draw; founded at the height of the civil rights movement, it has been a pioneer in integrating classical ballet and remains a global ambassador for excellence and diversity. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I live in Seattle and saw Dance Theatre of Harlem for the first time last night at the Paramount Theatre. I was very impressed with the dancers musicality, versatility, and technical skills. They put on a show that ranged from classical Balanchine to modern ballet to more of an R&B casual style dance. Their versatility was really incredible. Please support this company.
March 09 · Natalie RamseyI have nothing but great things to say about this institution. My daughter started dancing here since the age of 7 and loves it! They are totally professional and welcoming. All the teachers are amazing and know their students well. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions parents aren’t allowed in the building right now, but let me tell you, my favorite part of this whole experience is waiting for my dancer while the music from the accompanist leaks through the hallways.
November 11 · Yesenia FernandezGreat Family Matinee featuring the Dth Company and School. My son and I had a wonderful time. Beautiful performances by all. This was my first experience viewing the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Great experience. Show was at the Apollo Theater. Wonderful time..
May 28 · Pat DAlthough performance is good, I must comment on how guests were treated. I attended with a group of 5. We were all paying guests. We arrived early to have a good seat, but was told that the children 7 and 9 years old could not sit in the front. They would have to sit on the floor if sitting in front, or go on the back. This is not a good practice. We will not go back to their performance
February 09 · Pamela “PD” De JongeGood school, great teachers, wonderful staff, just not the place for me, signed up for ballet lessons and payed 1 thousand for one measly class and got another class that I didn’t even want. In total I basically payed for 2 months worth of classes which sucks because they have great teachers that I would love to learn more from but unfortunately I got 1 hour and 30 minutes with them once every week, would recommend to anyone who is interested in other types of dances like hip hop or African :) Amazing school
