Giacobbe Academy Of Dance Introduce
For many in the New Orleans metro area, the name Giacobbe is synonymous with dance. The Giacobbe Academy Of Dance, located in Metairie, has a decades-long history of providing top-tier dance training. This isn't just a business; it's a legacy. The institution is known for the high quality of dance taught by the Giacobbe family, a tradition that has earned it a strong reputation in the local arts community. For those seeking a serious and disciplined approach to dance education, this academy offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop more than just technical skill. It aims to instill in students a deep appreciation for the arts, along with valuable life skills like discipline, pride in one's work, and a profound respect for the diversity of dance forms.
The philosophy at Giacobbe Academy Of Dance is rooted in the belief that dance is more than just a hobby; it is a serious art form that requires dedication and hard work. The academy is a place where students can learn a variety of dance styles, from the foundational discipline of ballet to the rhythmic complexities of tap and jazz. The core of their teaching philosophy is a commitment to providing a solid education that prepares students for a bigger vision, whether that's a professional career in the arts or simply a lifelong love of movement. This focus on long-term development is a key reason why many parents choose this institution, viewing it as an investment in their child's artistic and personal growth. The school is known for its ability to teach discipline and pride in work, which are attributes that extend far beyond the dance studio.
While the academy is celebrated for its high standards and focus on discipline, it is also important to consider the experience from all perspectives. A review from a parent with a very young child highlights a different experience, where the communication style from a teacher was perceived as aggressive and dismissive. This parent felt that for a three-year-old, the priority should be fun and comfort, and that the academy's communication could have been more private and empathetic. This feedback points to the fact that while the academy may be perfect for a dancer ready for a more disciplined and structured environment, it may not be the ideal fit for a very young child who is still exploring and adapting to a new setting. The academy’s reputation for having a serious approach means it may attract students and families who are specifically looking for that level of rigor.
The academy offers a variety of classes, including but likely not limited to ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance. This diverse curriculum ensures that students can receive a well-rounded dance education. The quality of instruction is a recurring theme in positive feedback, with a long history of a dedicated faculty. The school also has a reputation for preparing students for high-level artistic pursuits, with some faculty members having professional backgrounds that include prestigious companies. This level of expertise can be a major draw for aspiring dancers in the region who want to train with the best.

What is worth choosing
Choosing Giacobbe Academy Of Dance is about choosing a legacy of excellence and a commitment to the serious study of dance. For parents and students who value a disciplined, rigorous education and a focus on developing a true respect for the arts, this academy is an outstanding choice. The core strength of this institution lies in the quality of its instruction and its long-standing reputation for producing well-trained dancers. The curriculum extends beyond just teaching steps, aiming to build character, work ethic, and a deeper appreciation for the art form. The fact that the school has a reputation for preparing students for future artistic endeavors speaks volumes about its standards and the quality of its training.
However, it is worth noting that for some, particularly those with very young children, the structured and disciplined environment might be more than they are looking for. The review from a parent of a three-year-old highlights that the academy's serious approach may not align with the needs of every child or family, especially those seeking a more purely recreational and gentle introduction to dance. Therefore, it is important for prospective students and parents to consider whether their goals align with the academy's philosophy. For those who are ready for a challenging and rewarding experience and wish to be part of a tradition of dance excellence in Louisiana, Giacobbe Academy Of Dance is an unparalleled option that is truly worth the commitment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I wanted to love this place because it came highly recommended…. However our time there (3 weeks) was fine until the last class. Before I get into detail I want y’all to know I have 3 girls. One of which is an all star competitive cheerleader at the highest level you can be so as a parent I know what is expected. However my child taking classes here is 3 years old. First two weeks were great like I said.. or so I thought. Third week hits and all the kids are coming out. My child is coming with a teacher attached to her arm and in-front of everyone the teacher starts saying “She won’t dance.. she doesn’t listen.. she cries.. she pulls on her tights.. etc etc” So standing there in embarrassment I asked if it was just this class or all her classes and she says “all of her classes” and hands her off to me. She came off aggressive and annoyed which is was made me upset. Also I feel like it’s a conversation she could have had with me in private. So this point I’m embarrassed and want to get out of the place. After speaking with my husband we decided to just un enroll her from the class. I wrote an email letting them know we will not be returning and the email I got was very dismissive. They didn’t even care to ask why or if there was anything they could do. Verbatim said“ Hi Flor,We are sorry to hear that, but thank you for letting us know.”I don’t know if it’s just me but I would have asked questions. Not only that I had paid the season up until December and they didn’t even offer a refund. It’s not about the money. It’s about the principal and values of your company. My child is 3. She joined ballet to have fun and be a three year old. Who cares if she cried the first few classes? She knew no one there and maybe just needed to get comfortable. && for this reason I am giving them 1 star.
October 07 · flor castilloThe quality of the dance taught by the Giacobbe family is what anyone would want for their child, the best. There is more than just ballet. Tap , jazz, modern, but it more than styles of dance.Discipline, pride in one's work, and diversified respect is developed in your child. I wanted my child to have a bigger vision, not just math, English and science, but a true respect for the Arts. Giacobbe delivers, it's worth any drive, it is worth the monies.
May 25 · Stephy SimoneauxI went to Giacobbe’s as a child for several years. I still think of the family fondly. I loved my time there with Ms. Maria, Mr. Joseph, Ms. Gwendelle, Toni, Ms. Janice, and the others. I stopped around my junior year of high school. I was working in a lot of local theatre and it was hard to keep up classes 3 days a week, rehearsals every day/night (7 days a week), and school. But every choreographer I worked with commented on my beautiful technique. That was thanks to the Giacobbes. It proved to be money very well spent. After 30 years of not dancing (I’m 50 now) I went back to the adult class. Without them knowing, they commented on my beautiful technique and who taught me. In which I replied, “A wonderful lady named Ms. Maria along with her brother, Mr. Joseph.” It’s nice to be home!
October 11 · Victoria RousseauMy girls have been dancing at Giacobbe sine they were both three years old. It is hands down the best ballet studio in the area. But they do not just offer wonderful classical ballet training. They students are well wounded in tap and jazz as well. The school is affiliated with the Delta Ballet Company, the only semi professional company in the state. The girls are afforded the opportunity to audition for the Nutcracker yearly as well. The only Nutcracker that allows the dancers to perform Symphony. It is a fabulous experience!
August 25 · Katie BrandnerMy daughter has been attending Giacobbe since she was for the past 7 years. It is a FANTASTIC school. We switched to Giacobbe from another school after only 1 year. The OTHER school (when she was 3) I thought did a relatively decent job (for 3-year-olds) but after I saw what the rest of the more advanced dancers were doing (including the graduates), we pulled her from that school and put her in Giacobbe. I have to say that was the best thing we could have EVER done. As a man, I was blown away by the caliber of dancing Giacobbe put out in their "End of the Year" recital. Although my first dance recital was that one when she was 3, Giacobbe's Academy of Dance recital is beautiful and well put-together. A+++ for Giacobbe!
