Hudson Irish Dance Academy Introduce
Welcome to the Hudson Irish Dance Academy (HIDA), a beloved institution in the Wayzata, Minnesota community dedicated to the art and sport of Irish dance. Established in 2018 by one of the Twin Cities' premiere Irish dance coaches, Corey Hudson, our academy has rapidly grown into a vibrant and supportive community for dancers and their families. Our mission is to "bring joy and inspiration to every class and performance" and to foster a strong sense of community, whether through the fun of recreational dancing or the hard work of competition. We believe that dance is a transformative experience, and our coaches are committed to guiding each dancer on their personal journey, helping them to build confidence, discipline, and a lifelong passion for the art form.
At HIDA, our instructors are more than just teachers; they are mentors. As a reviewer noted, coaches Paige and Corey "care deeply about not only the dance education they are providing their students, but also the well-being of their dancers." They are known for their passion and "top notch" knowledge of Irish dance. The studio environment is "positive and fun," keeping students engaged and eager to learn. The camaraderie among students is "unbeatable," creating a family-like atmosphere where every dancer feels supported and encouraged. Whether you are looking for a fun workout or a path to competitive success, Hudson Irish Dance Academy offers a welcoming space for all.
Hudson Irish Dance Academy is conveniently located at 1250 Wayzata Blvd, Wayzata, MN 55391, USA. Our studio is nestled within the Wayzata Home Center, just minutes from the intersection of I-394 and I-494. This central location in the West Metro area makes us an easily accessible destination for families from Wayzata and the surrounding communities, including Plymouth, Minnetonka, and Hopkins. Our commitment to accessibility is a top priority; we have a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that our studio is welcoming and inclusive for all members of the community.
Our studio boasts a world-class facility with three dedicated dance studios, two of which are equipped with fully-sprung dance floors. These specialized floors are ideal for Irish dance, providing a safer and more comfortable surface for training. The studio also has a smaller space perfect for individual and small group instruction. A unique feature of our studio is the large lobby area where parents have the ability to stay and watch their dancers' classes, as one reviewer highlighted, which fosters a sense of transparency and community. Our location and facilities are thoughtfully designed to provide the best possible environment for both training and observation.
We offer a comprehensive selection of classes and services to accommodate every level of dancer.
- Beginner Classes: Our beginner classes are perfect for those with little to no prior dance experience, providing a fun and supportive introduction to Irish dance for both children and adults.
- Intermediate and Advanced Classes: For experienced dancers, we offer intermediate and advanced classes that focus on mastering more complex steps, technique, and choreography, preparing them for higher levels of performance and competition.

- Highly Qualified Coaches: The knowledge and passion of our coaches, Paige and Corey, are a major highlight. Corey is a fully certified male instructor with a long history of coaching dancers to championship success, bringing a unique perspective to the art form. Paige is a dedicated instructor and the studio's Director of Operations, ensuring the studio runs smoothly.
- Respect for Personal Pace: As one reviewer noted, the studio does not pressure dancers to go "too intense" and respects their personal decisions on what works for their family. This allows dancers to progress at their own pace without feeling overwhelmed.
- Opportunities to Perform and Compete: We provide a path for dancers who want to compete at a high level, having trained students who have earned National and World Championship qualifications. Our dancers also have opportunities to perform at local events like the Irish Fair of Minnesota.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 14 years ago we made the decision to switch Irish dance studios and we’ve never looked back! Paige and Corey have been unconditionally supportive of all 3 of my dancers over the years even when it meant encouraging other interests. Their passion for, and knowledge of all things Irish dance is top notch. The studio environment is positive and fun, it keeps the dancers engaged and eager to continue learning, and the camaraderie between the students is unbeatable. Parents have the ability to stay at the studio and watch their dancers classes from a lobby area if they’d like which was a wonderful change for me, so much so that I started dabbling in their adult class!! If you’re looking to tryout Irish dance for a fun workout or with the intentions of competing I would definitely check out Hudson Irish Dance Academy, they do not disappoint!
August 24 · Christi O'RourkeWe cannot say enough good things about Hudson since joining in 2021. The coaches work HARD and have such a passion for the sport and their students. They go above and beyond to help each dancer achieve their goals as best they can and the positive, supportive environment they have created both in the studio and out has been such a gift. We have also loved how they will not pressure you into getting too intense and will allow you to go at your own pace, respecting your personal decisions on what works for your dancer and your family. The community we have here at HIDA is wonderful and we cannot recommend it enough!
July 10 · Jen FAs an Irish dancer approaching 10 years of dancing, Hudson has been a place for me to work hard and feel loved and supported too.Paige and Corey have been the most amazing coaches and inspirations to me. These coaches are truly incredible because we are able to have a strong trust connection and they care about me not only as a dancer but as a person too. The community at the studio is wonderful and I look forward to going to dance class to strive for my goals and to know that my friends and teachers all support me. The teachers at Hudson Irish Dance really go the extra mile in coaching so much as that they are setting me up to have a future career in Irish dance and mentor me through competition and Irish dance teaching certifications. This dance studio and community is teaching an amazing skill while leading me through life with passion for dancing.
September 02 · Lyla AnneOur daughter found Hudson Irish Dance Academy about a year ago and Corey and Paige have been nothing but fantastic! They welcomed our dancer (with no previous dance experience) into the group with open arms and have been the best thing in the world for her. They have helped her see the benefit of hard work and determination and provided her a safe space to participate in a fantastic activity, be a part of a great team (dancers and families alike) and be a kid.Hudson has helped our daughter achieve her goal of getting to Oireachtas in her first year of competitive Irish dance (Novice to Prelim. Champ!) through the tireless support of their students, wonderful instruction, and love of Irish Dance! We are so happy to have found and be a part of the Hudson Irish Dance family!!!
August 24 · Dan UllomMy daughter started Irish Dance a little over one year ago and we are so happy that we landed at Hudson Irish Dance Academy. We live in SW Minneapolis and I didn't want to go to St. Paul for lessons. I did contact another studio about class schedules and when she could start. That studio replied to my email and said a new schedule would come out soon and then I never heard back from them again. HIDA was the next studio I reached out to and Corey responded right away and told me to come for a free class. I was new to Irish Dance - it is very different from the tap/ballet/jazz that I grew up with. Irish Dance has no beginning or end to the season, and no big end of year performance, so you can start at anytime and any age.Fast forward a year and my daughter has loved her experience and so have I! Both teachers (Corey and Paige) are very hands on and are great with little kids and teens. They work really well as a team and make learning all of the funny traditions and rules of Irish Dancing and competitions very accessible. I was skeptical about the competition thing at first (my daughter was 7 when she started) but she loved the competition and I think it has been great for her confidence and social development. And while I did not seek out a "competition studio" I feel like we are in very good hands. I think both Corey and Paige are incredibly talented and have a special ability to push their dancers to work hard without being mean or making dancers feel bad - it is a very positive environment. This is truly a passion for Corey and Paige and it shows. They care deeply about their students and are always willing to make extra class time available if that is what you and your dancer want/need. And as an extra bonus the HIDA families are all super fun and nice! I give HIDA an A++
