After spending this past season with Impact Dance Academy, I feel compelled to share our negative experience that was full of empty promises and disappointment. When we first joined, a vision was shared directly from the studio owner that this studio was going to be different than others in the past, with an emphasis on family, transparency, growth and a sense of team.What we got was the complete opposite.Instructors spoke negatively about specific students behind their backs while in class, causing a rift and mistrust amongst the team. When brought to the studio owner’s attention by multiple parents, the issue was dismissed and never addressed. This is not a culture of “team” nor a studio trait I want to have my daughter part of.We were very frustrated with the lack of communication and inconsistencies in general. Additional fees that were not part of the signed agreement contract continued to show in our account and were automatically charged. Decisions regarding student individual needs (including our daughter) were agreed upon in person or over a personal phone call, and then retracted or reneged through a vague and impersonal email or Facebook message. This caused instability and more importantly a feeling that the owner/instructors did not support my daughter (her words).The final straw was after auditions for this coming season, we had scheduled a private meeting to go over what dances we were going to commit to, and to talk about having some flexibility in doing the solo with dancer input as this would be my daughter’s 10th competitive solo and we discussed this in the prior year. After waiting an hour because the owner had double booked us, we were told in person we can make this work. Then a few days later via email the owner changed her mind again and said my daughter could no longer contribute to her own solo after being told we could. A phone call was requested at the owner’s earliest convenience. However, no call was ever received.I don’t know how any business can make an agreement to a customer’s face, only to renege a few days later and hide behind a computer screen. It’s just unprofessional, immature and selfish.As a business owner myself, I understand that reviews can be difficult to hear, but I share this in hope that the studio can learn from these mistakes and get better. We watched dancers and instructors leave for various reasons throughout the season, leaving the studio feeling quite bare going into season 2. Parents need some transparency with not only their hard earned money, but the time their children will invest at a studio. We only have so many years to enjoy our kids doing sports, activities, dance etc. And as a parent I want the absolute best for them to grow, and to enjoy the time doing it and this studio was not the place for either. We left feeling as if we lost a year, and were treated with disrespect. Crushing dreams was never part of the vision shared. Working with children, of any age, should be a selfless act, not selfish.

We started with Impact Summer 2024 after trying out a few other dance studios in the area. What a breath of fresh air Impact has been for us! SUCH a positive environment. All of the teachers have been amazing with providing great feedback to our dancer to help her grow and gain new skills in just a short time. They do a great job of promoting a positive environment as well with things such as “compliment partners” in group classes. We are truly grateful for the dance home Impact has created.

Melissa and the teachers she has brought into her studio are top notch. They work with you where you are and have all the tools to build you up to where you want to be. The studio as a whole is absolutely supportive and professional. It doesn’t get any better, I cant recommend them enough.
