Introduction / Overview
For families and individuals in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and the surrounding Upper Valley region, the Lebanon Ballet School Inc stands as a beacon of artistic excellence and community. This isn't just a place to learn ballet; it's a dedicated institution that goes above and beyond to shape not only skilled dancers but also respectful, confident, and kind individuals. The school's mission is to provide top-quality dance instruction while instilling a deep sense of community and pride in its students. As one parent beautifully put it, "Not only do the dancers have amazing, kind, caring teachers but they also instill a sense pride, respect, kindness, and sense of community in their dancers." This is evident in the mentorship programs where older, more experienced dancers guide and support the younger students, creating a powerful and inspiring "family feel." The school's commitment to creating a positive and nurturing environment is a key reason why so many New Hampshire families choose it for their children's dance education. Whether a student dreams of a professional career or simply wants to enjoy the art of dance, Lebanon Ballet School provides a foundation built on discipline, fun, and mutual respect. The school's founder, Linda, is praised for setting the bar high and inspiring dancers to rise to it, all while teaching valuable lessons in routine, respect, flexibility, and joy. This holistic approach to dance education is what makes Lebanon Ballet School a truly special place and a cherished part of the local community.
Lebanon Ballet School's curriculum is comprehensive and thoughtfully designed to cater to a wide range of students. From the very first steps in a youth program to advanced training for aspiring professionals, the school offers a clear path for growth. Beyond the technical training, students receive unexpected benefits that enrich their lives far beyond the dance studio. One parent highlighted "language acquisition," noting their child's connection between French ballet terms and daily life, as well as a strong sense of "community" with dancers and families from different towns. This creation of a supportive network is invaluable. The school also provides "production experience" at a professional level, giving young dancers a glimpse into the world of theater and performance, an "invaluable" opportunity for their development. The training is not limited to classical ballet; the school also offers programs in contemporary dance, musical theater, and character dancing, providing a well-rounded artistic education. For adults, the school offers a welcoming space to learn ballet or get a great workout with barre classes, proving that it is never too late to start dancing. The instructors are known for their professionalism and caring nature, ensuring that every student feels their best interests are at heart. This blend of high-quality training, a nurturing environment, and a wide array of programs solidifies Lebanon Ballet School's reputation as a premier dance institution in New Hampshire.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This school goes above and beyond. Initially signed daughter up about 5 years ago because it was the closest dance school for us. Not only do the dancers have amazing, kind, caring teachers but they also instill a sense pride, respect, kindness, and sense of community in their dancers. This can be seen with the older dancers especially; they are talented, mentor the younger dancers, are responsible, and take pride in craft they are learning. I have nothing but excellent things to say about this school; the dance they are teaching and the environment they have created shapes the dancers in and out of the classroom. Thank you!
June 03 · blueberrie4If you are looking for a place for your child (or you!) to get ballet instruction, I highly recommend LBS. My daughter began classes a few days before she turned 5 and I have watched her grow and learn and create meaningful relationships with her peers and her instructors. Linda sets the bar high, and the dancers rise to it. They learn routine and respect, flexibility and fun. When I signed my daughter up for ballet, I wasn’t sure how long she would like it. Here we are 3 years later, and she is still excited every week on her ballet days. Some unexpected benefits from our time at LBS:- language acquisition: my daughter is connecting the French words and the movements and is making connections in her daily life- community: the dancers and their families are from different towns and schools, but the family feel is real. We have made friends in the studio that we wouldn’t have known otherwise- mentorship: I delight in watching the younger dancers learn from the older ones, and the older dancers guide and support the youngers. Being backstage at LOH for the most recent production of Cinderella gave me a glimpse into the multi-aged community that Linda has built.- production experience: as young as Ballet I, dancers get to experience a production at the professional level in a real theatre. This is invaluable.Thank you, Linda and LBS. I know you have my daughter’s best interests at heart. We so appreciate it.
June 11 · Rebecca SextonThis the finest traditional ballet school in the Upper Valley. This is NOT a sparkly spandex, competition, dance/cheer company. If you want real dance skills and rigor for your dancer this is the place to go. The instructors are a wealth of knowledge who will provide a dancing experience filled with respect and caring. The bar is set high but oh what beauty when the kids reach for it. With a performance partnership with the City Center Ballet your dancer will be given experiences rarely found in this area.
June 05 · Gus DanforthMy daughter joined the Teen class at Lebanon Ballet School after being away from ballet for a few years. We chose LBS specifically for this class geared towards older, returning ballet students and first time teen ballet dancers, even though the school is an hour and a half away from where we live. It has been a wonderful experience for my daughter. She has learned so much in the last six months. This school is the real thing - real technique and real skills (with the vocabulary to go with it). My daughter has also benefited from the increased confidence that comes with approaching a difficult discipline and succeeding. The teachers are supportive and knowledgeable and encourage students to do their best. Their expectations are high, and I appreciate that. To respond to another reviewer's remark "don't dare show up late" - The teens in this class (and other classes, too, from what I can see) take dancing seriously. It is respectful to them and the instructors to show up on time and ready for class. Frowning upon habitual lateness is not a negative in my book, especially when students are learning an art that requires discipline. I would highly recommend Lebanon Ballet School to anyone who has a teen dancer, whether their student has been away from ballet for a few years or is new to it.
March 22 · Mindy Wren BarthExcellent school - My daughter has been with this school for 8 years. She has had exceptional performance opportunities and high quality technical training. Dancers from this school go on to very prestigious dance programs. The instruction the students receive is age appropriate, supportive, and creative.
