When considering a child care or after-school activity, parents in Kentucky have many options. Choosing the Lexington Ballet Company means investing in a program that offers more than just physical activity. It means becoming part of a community that has dedicated itself to the arts for nearly five decades. For families, this choice is often about giving their children access to a disciplined and creative art form that can build confidence and teach valuable lessons. The reputation and legacy of a long-standing institution can be a major draw for many. However, a recent shift in the organization's administration has brought to light some significant concerns from former patrons and supporters. Reviews have mentioned issues related to "mismanagement," a lack of "financial transparency," and a breakdown in "communication." The departure of an "entire faculty, professional company, volunteers, and even two accounting firms" has raised "red flags" for community members.
These reviews reflect a growing sentiment of instability under the current leadership and management. One review describes the situation as "toxic and unstable," and another encourages prospective families to "do your due diligence before committing." The reviews state that the organization was evicted from its long-term residency, and that there is a lack of communication. While the historical mission of the Lexington Ballet Company remains strong, and the potential for a positive experience exists, these recent public concerns are a key factor for families to consider. For those passionate about the arts and looking for a way to support them in the community, the Lexington Ballet still holds a place as a historic institution. However, it is important for prospective patrons and students to be aware of the current climate and to make their own informed decisions based on their comfort level with the publicly available information. The choice of a child care agency or a youth program is a personal one, and this information is provided to help parents make the most informed decision possible for their family.

Lexington Ballet Company Reviews
As a former patron, supporter, and friend of the Lexington Ballet: I am heartbroken for the students, families, company members, and volunteers affected by the mismanagement of the CEO/Executive Director over the past 2 years. Many families, including my own, have spent decades supporting this organization and are now alienated by the current administration. There is no financial transparency and no communication. All members of the faculty, company, and school abruptly quit, and the organization has been evicted from where they have held residency for 40 years.I encourage all prospective students, families, and incoming company artists to do your due diligence before committing to this organization.
July 13 · Ann Marie WesternLexington Ballet has been a staple in the arts community, but under the current executive director, it has become a toxic and unstable environment. When an entire faculty, professional company, volunteers, and even two accounting firms walk away that should raise serious red flags. Until there’s leadership change, I’d strongly recommend reconsidering any involvement with LBC, whether as a student, employee, or donor.
July 12 · Amy WiltonWe attended LBC the last 4 years. My daughter fell in love with her teachers and friends. However, the entire company and a large majority of the school has quit due to terrible mismanagement by the Executive Director. This place is “running” as a non-profit, however when multiple parents have asked very reasonable questions such as 1.) Who is on the board? 2.) Why is there no transparency and communication on why the entire company up and quit? There is NO response! It’s incredibly upsetting to the families who have dedicated so much money and time. Very sad! I would NOT go to LBC until the Executive Director is gone.
March 31 · Alex HubbardSo sad to see such a beloved institution suffer due to one person’s corruption and poor leadership. The entire company and school staff have quit due to the executive director’s toxic and inappropriate behavior. She has somehow named herself the board chair, executive director, and CEO and therefore dismantled the system that should be holding her accountable for her actions. She has continued to promote an upcoming season and post on social media (even blocking and deleting comments with any acknowledgement of the situation) like nothing has happened and refuses to acknowledge the damage that has been done. I hope the broader community can find a way to hold her accountable (by way of her resignation) and rebuild the ballet that has been loved by so many for long.
April 28 · Avelyn HeltzelDon’t give money to this organization until they have an independent financial audit. They haven’t had one for two years. Entire professional company resigned. Accounting firms have quit working for them. It was once a great organization, it is a shadow of what it once was.
