What makes Madison Professional Dance Center, LLC, truly worth choosing is its balance of professional-level instruction with a genuinely open and communal environment, as highlighted by multiple customer reviews. One review from a parent whose senior dancer has been with the studio for four years perfectly encapsulates this. They note that the studio welcomes everyone "openly," regardless of whether they are "just taking classes, on one team, or part of Company." The "vibe there is very much a community." This sense of belonging is a key element that makes MPDC more than just a place to learn dance; it's a place where students and families become part of a supportive network. The review also praises the "top-notch" instruction and choreography, acknowledging that the "skill of the dancers is incredible" and that the student made immense progress in a short time.
However, it is important for prospective students to consider a balanced perspective. A detailed review from an adult hip-hop student sheds light on areas where the studio might improve its communication and organization, particularly for adult classes and recital preparation. The reviewer praised the instructor's "amazing" talent but felt there was a lack of constructive feedback and organization leading up to the recital. This led to confusion about the class's objective, as well as last-minute schedule changes for rehearsals and performances. The review suggests that a clearer distinction between "drop-in" and "instruction-based" classes would be beneficial for adult students seeking more serious training. This feedback, while critical, provides valuable insight for potential students: if you are an adult looking for a flexible, fun, drop-in style class, this studio is an excellent choice, as the reviewer noted the classes were great and full of students prior to recital preparation. If you are an adult seeking a highly structured, performance-focused experience with consistent communication, it may be important to have an upfront conversation with the studio to clarify expectations.
Overall, MPDC is a fantastic choice for those in the Wisconsin area looking for a place that combines professional dance training with a strong, supportive community. The positive feedback from youth and their families about the studio's nurturing environment and professional skill development is compelling. The honest feedback from the adult student serves as a useful guide, suggesting that potential adult students should inquire about the structure of the classes to ensure it aligns with their personal goals. This transparency in the studio’s reviews ultimately builds trust, showing that the community is real and the experiences are genuine. It remains a top choice, especially for young dancers, due to its warm, inclusive, and high-quality environment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I attended this year’s Teen/Adult Hip Hop class.Let me start by saying my instructor was an amazing choreographer & dancer. I absolutely think she is phenomenal and I feel a lot of this is purely just poor communication all around.I felt her instruction towards my class was similar to a drop in style. She knew how to guide the class on how to complete moves in the moment and she was a great teacher. I also saw a piece she did with an advanced class and I know my instructor has it in her to help coordinate a routine. However, I don’t think she felt as if she could execute any form of constructive feedback in my class. Which would be okay in a drop in setting but in a class where I’m paying money to learn and perform a piece at a recital, I would have loved to be able to run certain sections and receive feedback on areas to improve prior to performing on stage. The classes themselves were great prior to us working on the recital piece. We had a full class of students and it seemed like everyone was having fun. Once the recital piece came about, the class kept getting smaller & smaller. It felt the recital piece was receiving half the energy & love it deserved because we were having to continuously rerun it with different people.I feel that there needs to be a separate class for drop in and instruction based. I feel like this led to much confusion on exactly what our classes objective was.I feel like the planning for the recital itself was not the best and definitely led to me having to move around different things in my schedule because I was told last minute my recital day, my show time as well as my rehearsal time. My performance time kept switching as well which led to me having to communicate with my loved ones three different times. I also feel it should’ve been more heavily communicated in advance that the recital would be in Sauk City, especially if previous years they have done it closer. In the day of recital. My team didn’t even have an assigned dressing room or anything. I honestly just felt like I was having to figure it all myself. What really bothered me is that my instructor wasn’t present for both my dress rehearsal and my performance. There was one instructor in particular who was amazing on making sure we knew where to go and she seemed to carry that same energy with her own dancers as well.I also was charged to perform in the recital, which was posted on the website but I was never informed of this. I also don’t feel it was fair to charge me when I bought my own costume and didn’t add any additional charges to the shows budget. I even bought tickets. But granted, I am letting this one go because I supported the arts.Essentially, I think this place is great for professional kids/teen dancers. However, there was not equal effort being put into my group which I genuinely do feel is because it was an adult class.Due to that, I don’t think I would personally take adult classes here as I’m looking for something more instruction based but would encourage adult classes for those who are considering drop in classes.
April 28 · Madison FlatmanLast night was our Senior's last performance with MPDC, and we're going to miss this group so very much! While she has danced off-and-on since she was 3, her focus for much of that time was on another sport. As a freshman she decided she wanted to shift back to dance, and that's when we found MPDC and their Advanced Hip Hop team. Although there are certainly kiddos who have been dancing there practically forever, not everyone has. And it doesn't matter if you're just taking classes, on one team, or part of Company... everyone is welcomed openly. The vibe there is very much a community. At the same time, the instruction and choreography is top-notch and the skill of the dancers is incredible! It's amazing to see how far she's come in just 4 years. If you're looking for a studio, you absolutely have to give them a try!!
April 29 · Tracy GrzybowskiThe teachers at Madison Professional Dance Center are knowledgeable, helpful, and, best of all, they care about the dancers. My daughter has grown so much as a dancer and as a person since joining the dance Company here. She has become more confident and self aware, and it is a joy to see. Plus, she has made some excellent, like-minded friends along the way.
June 15 · Britt M KloehnThis studio offers the BEST dance training in Madison. My son has grown tremendously in his ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, and hip hop technique since he started at MPDC. The faculty are top-notch. The culture is family and the kids are kind!! We simply love MPDC!
June 12 · Sara Jimenez SoffaWe absolutely LOVE being a part of the MPDC family. As a former dancer myself and dance team coach, finding the right studio to compliment my daughter's personality and personal goals was very important...We've had such a fantastic experience all across the board at MPDC...all the families and dancers are amazing and the connections my daughter has made will be life long for sure. The staff is exceptional and not only talented, but so kind, supportive and calm. My daughter has improved so much with regard to her technique and confidence since we started at MPDC 3 years ago - and she just loves her teachers. I'm beyond grateful we've found our home...our family...at MPDC.
