★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I brought my granddaughter to a lot of her classes. The owner/ teacher spends more time chatting than teaching and when she finally gets to the last five minutes to teach it’s not proper technique, the helpers look like they can barely dance, and she takes payments and turns around to tell you she never received it. Never saw a smile on her face unless shes filming herself, kids were ignored and yelled at way too much for a fun extra curricular. Overall rude, awkward and unprofessional atmosphere here. Spend the tuition on a real dance studio.
July 22 · JJWe live about 3 hours away and we love going to see Ms Kate at Martelle Dance Academy. She offers summer dance classes and with my 4 girls, she offers different classes and makes them so much fun for each of them. It's one of our summer activites and we look forward to each year. I know if we lived closer my girls would be in dance classes year round!! Highly recommend.
August 09 · Sarah KillianI would NEVER EVER even think of putting my child in this dance studio.... ANYONE & EVERYONE who thinks this Mrs. Martelle is doing this great experience with children and isn't! Isn't paying her staff, she has favoritism for a students! She EVEN MADE A LITTLE GIRL DROP OUT OF HER RECITAL AFTER SHE PRACTICED ALL SEASON TO BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY GO TO THE RECITAL!
June 07 · Angel RuhlmanWe love Martelle Dance Academy!!!! My daughter has thrived and grown not just as a dancer but a person. She has had amazing experiences and opportunities including performing at NASCAR, competing in dance competitions, and performing in NYC! Martelle is not just any dance studio when you join you become part of a dance family!
August 09 · Nicole KinnairdAfter being with Kate’s dance studio since her second year of being opened I can say we will not be returning and are leaving very heart broken. Both of my daughters have danced with her since 1 1/2 years old. The inflation on price and the lies you are told about what you are paying for in the beginning of each season compared to what you actually end up paying is crazy! Besides the money because we all know dance is expensive. Kate not only favors kids but also treats the ones she doesn’t like horribly and if your new you’ll disagree with me because she will treat you like gold so you come back. I have watched my oldest go from being praised and allowed to be in every opportunity to being excluded to the point she wouldn’t even email me about events. She had emailed me to reminded me about a fundraiser for an event my daughter was supposed to be in but wouldn’t confirm to me she was able to go until after the fundraiser was over. After multiple asks and being ignored I stoped fundraising before it was over I’m glad I did because she told me my daughter was not included. What!! You asked me to fundraise and we spoke about the event so you wait till you got your money then notify me my daughter won’t be included! If this doesn’t sicken you enough as a parent my youngest was so disliked by Kate she was made to sit for no reason and watch all the other kids doing fun things. Don’t believe me? Even another parent stood up for my daughter and she was still ignored yes at this point we walked out. In fact my youngest missed 90% of her classes due to walking out or not going because of the anxiety and stress of my child being left out. We ultimately finished the season just to be further disappointed and extra recital fee was added which she advertises the tuition fee includes recital. We also found out that my oldest teacher, the only teacher who treated all the kids equally and actually worked on there skills with each of them was fired! What! Anyone who liked this teacher was shut out by Kate the favoritism hit an all time high! My daughter was so discouraged at the last couple classes because they changed her entire dance and you could feel the negative energy coming from the teacher (Kate). My daughter and several other girls were heart broken to find out the former teachers daughter was banned from the recital with her classmates. They were all dance besties and the sweet little girl did not deserve to be pushed away. Kate preaches inclusivity but in reality her personality does not match this she only see’s green and fame if you don’t provide enough of either you are nothing but a step on her ladder up. I hope to find a new teacher who puts the light back into my little ballerinas heart.
