Maywood Fine Arts Association Introduce
In the heart of Maywood, Illinois, stands a community pillar dedicated to fostering creativity and physical activity in children and families: the Maywood Fine Arts Association. This women-owned non-profit organization is a beacon of hope and opportunity, providing affordable and high-quality instruction in a wide range of artistic and fitness disciplines. Since its founding, the association has been committed to enriching and transforming lives, believing that arts and physical education can inspire self-confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. More than just a place for classes, Maywood Fine Arts is a hub where community members of all ages can come together to learn, create, and grow in a supportive and inclusive environment. With a mission to ensure no child is turned away due to financial constraints, this organization plays a vital role in providing a safe and productive space for local youth.
The spirit of Maywood Fine Arts is perhaps best captured by its commitment to its community. It operates on the principle that every child deserves access to a quality arts education, regardless of their background or financial situation. This dedication is evident in its affordable pricing, family discounts, and subsidized tuition, which are made possible through grants and donations. The organization’s inclusive philosophy extends beyond financial accessibility. It proudly identifies as LGBTQ+ friendly and a transgender safe space, ensuring that all individuals feel welcomed and respected. This focus on creating a supportive culture is a cornerstone of the association's identity, and it aims to foster an environment where everyone can thrive. This mission-driven approach sets it apart from many other businesses, as its primary goal is not profit, but the positive impact it has on the lives of those it serves.
While public feedback on any organization can be varied, reviews for Maywood Fine Arts highlight both its profound impact and areas of concern. One customer review beautifully describes the organization as "magical," praising its talented students, smiling faces, and incredibly affordable class costs compared to similar organizations in nearby suburbs. This testimonial speaks to the heartwarming atmosphere and the value the association provides, which can be a life-changing resource for many families. It reinforces the idea that the organization is fulfilling its mission of being an affordable and accessible place for children to explore their potential. The sight of happy, engaged children is a testament to the positive influence the association has on the community, creating a space for joy and artistic expression.
However, another review raises serious concerns about a negative and toxic environment, citing unfair treatment, favoritism, and unaddressed bullying. This conflicting feedback underscores the importance of a transparent and open dialogue with the organization. For any parent considering enrolling their child, it is recommended to visit the facilities in person, observe classes, and speak directly with staff and other families. This proactive approach allows individuals to form their own informed opinion and see if the culture aligns with their family's values. A non-profit organization that serves a diverse community and deals with a high volume of students may face challenges, and the best way to determine if a place is the right fit is through direct engagement. The willingness to engage in this process shows a commitment to making an informed decision for a child's well-being and happiness.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My daughter attended this school from a very young age, and unfortunately, her experience was extremely disappointing. Throughout the years, she was consistently treated unfairly, while clear favoritism was shown to other students. It was disheartening to witness how often she was overlooked, dismissed, and made to feel like she didn’t belong. The bullying she endured from other students was persistent and deeply harmful. Even worse, the staff did very little to intervene or support her, creating an environment where this behavior was allowed to continue. Rather than feeling safe or supported, my daughter was left feeling isolated and mistreated. No child deserves to be treated this way. I hope the school takes a serious look at the culture it fosters and makes changes to ensure all students are treated with the fairness, dignity, and care they deserve.
July 05 · Amanda SanchezI've known the founders all my life and am amazed at how much this organization has accomplished. The kids they teach are so talented and it makes my heart melt to see all their smiling faces whenever I walk through the studio. And the cost of classes is incredibly affordable especially when compared to similar organizations in nearby suburbs. Maywood Fine Arts is magical!!
November 16 · rebecca wollI was there sense I was 2, and boy I made so many memories. I loved Maywood fine arts. I used to take dance and tumbling lessons there. They put so much hard work into their dances. This is the place to be! They are always focused on the children. :)
April 27 · BMA CALIMaywood Fine Arts is a marvelous place for the whole family. From dance to tumbling to music and more, there is a class for everyone. The treasure of the neighborhood, be sure to make a donation because they accept all children regardless of their ability to pay.
August 12 · Becky DudzikMaywood Fine Arts Association on 5th and lake aloud my daughter and a few other girls to be bullied a group of three girls and they basically told me I couldn't come to them and tell them my concerns that I had to shut up and let them talk only and tell me to take the high road. They aloud the mother of one of the little girls to approach me and let her daughter attack my niece but still wanted me to shut up and not protect myself or my niece. Kicked my daughter out of the program she has been in since 5 because I had to shut up and let her be bullied or allow another mother to step in my face and disrespect me. I hope that's not where you want your children to go.
