Miss Leslie's School Of Dance Reviews
I spent 15 years dancing at Miss Leslie's growing up and I wouldn't trade it for the world! Miss Leslie gave me my passion for dance when I was 3 years old and even inspired me to start teaching dance in college. With the foundations I learned from her, I've been able to get a job teaching at several dance studios (I no longer live in the Dayton area or I'd be teaching for her!). Miss Leslie's studio is also truly a family-oriented place -- anyone who wants to can dance there regardless of age, ability, or experience level. My family and I made lifelong friends at Miss Leslie's that we still stay in touch with all these years later, and I personally went back to dance in 5 of her recitals after graduating high school.I read another review of a poor experience, and just want to say that I was also attending this studio over 10 years ago, but nothing like that ever happened to me or any student in any of my classes for 15 years. I can confidently say that Miss Leslie cherishes each and every one of her students, and is the kindest, most caring dance instructor I've ever had or personally met. She would never intentionally hurt anyone, put students down, or treat anyone poorly for any reason, and she definitely would never purposely embarrass her students! I certainly would not be the dancer or teacher I am today without Miss Leslie. I definitely recommend her studio to anyone!
October 09 · Kara LamHonestly? This was the absolute WORST experience with a dance school/class that I ever had. So much so that over 10 years later, here I am seeking it out to write a review. The dance instructor, miss Leslie, publicly shamed me in front of the whole class because my name wasn't on her role call (don't know why, I was registered for the class) and berated me, an 8 year old, in front of my peers to ask if my parents had paid for classes yet. Eventually she dropped it and started to teach the class, but It seemed everyone else had already taken lessons with her and I was the only beginner, something she didn't let me forget. A few classes later we we're learning a new move that I apparently couldn't immediately perform to her standards. Again, I was singled out from all the other students and made to repeat it again and again in front of everybody with the student teacher at the time (who's name I don't remember) critiquing me, while miss leslie yelled that I wasn't doing it fast enough, missed a step there, etc. I remember leaving that class in tears, spending the rest of the night practicing so nothing like that would ever happen again. Shortly after, my parents pulled me out of the class due to miss leslie's treatment and the stress it was causing me. It was such a horrific experience that I didn't even THINK about dance again until much, much later and I STILL think about how cruel the teacher was to a literal child in a beginners course for FUN (it's not like we were ever going to compete or anything). I would never go back there, nor would I consider sending my own children there if I had any. I sincerely doubt much has changed since I was a kid. Any "teacher" that singles students out to embarrass them, especially CHILDREN in a beginners course, should not be teaching.
September 10 · Maggie LaingThis is our first year with my daughter who’s 3. We are in the second class for the season and Miss Leslie and all staff have been so wonderful. She is so sweet and so very patient with every child and redirects them so easily. My daughter was not having it and she kindly allowed me to go with her during the lesson. We are looking forward for the recital and years to come to continue enrolling my daughter.
September 24 · Caitlyn MeloyHorrible dance teacher, she has no patience with beginners.
