Located in the heart of New Albany, Ohio, the New Albany Ballet Company is a long-standing institution dedicated to the art of dance. This ballet school offers a wide range of programs designed to cater to students of all ages and skill levels, from the youngest children taking their first steps in a pre-ballet class to adults looking to stay active and learn a new skill. The company is committed to providing high-quality dance education in a professional and structured environment. Their curriculum is designed to instill a strong foundation in classical ballet technique, but they also offer classes in other styles like hip-hop, ensuring a well-rounded artistic experience for their students. For residents of New Albany and the greater Columbus area, the studio provides a dedicated space for dance training and artistic expression.
The New Albany Ballet Company has a reputation for being a great place for kids, as noted in the provided information. Many families have trusted the studio to introduce their children to the world of dance. A review from a parent whose daughter has been dancing there since age 2.5 highlights this positive experience, noting that the school has "taken such great care of her and helped her to gain so much confidence." This type of feedback underscores the studio's nurturing environment, which is crucial for young children who are just beginning their artistic journey. For parents who want to ensure their child has a positive start in dance, the New Albany Ballet Company is a top-notch choice that focuses on building both skills and self-esteem.
However, it is worth noting that the studio has faced criticism regarding communication and organizational issues, as detailed in a lengthy customer review. This review describes "multiple minor yet continual and repeating issues" related to scheduling and communication, culminating in a troubling incident during a recital where a child was left without supervision after a last-minute change in pickup procedure was not effectively communicated. The review mentions a lack of apologies or accountability from the school. While this specific instance is a concern, it is important to consider all available information. The studio offers a variety of class divisions, including Children's, General, Progressive, and Pre-Professional, indicating a structured approach to training. They also have an Artistic Director and an Office Manager to help with different inquiries, which suggests an organizational structure is in place to manage the needs of students and parents.

For families in the Ohio area, particularly those in and around New Albany, the New Albany Ballet Company presents a strong option for dance education. One of the most significant reasons to choose this school is the quality of its ballet training. The curriculum is structured to provide a solid foundation in classical ballet, which is essential for any serious dancer. The various divisions—from Children’s to Pre-Professional—ensure that students are placed in the right environment to match their age and experience level, allowing them to progress at a suitable pace. The studio's commitment to building confidence in its young dancers is a key benefit, as evidenced by a long-term customer's review. This emphasis on positive personal growth alongside technical skills is invaluable for a child's development.
Furthermore, the studio offers a wider variety of services than a strictly classical ballet school, including hip-hop classes and dance camps. This means that a family can find multiple options for their child's interests, all within one location. The availability of adult classes also makes it a place where parents can pursue their own passion for dance or try something new for fitness and fun. The acceptance of modern payment methods like NFC mobile payments and the studio's commitment to physical accessibility with a wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance also add to its convenience and appeal for a diverse customer base.
However, it is important for potential customers to be aware of the reported communication issues. While the studio has a well-defined class structure and positive reviews from some long-term customers, the details shared by a former parent about communication breakdowns during a recital and the lack of a call-back or apology from the school are a serious consideration. This type of feedback suggests that while the dance training may be top-notch, the administrative and communication side of the business may require more attention. For families considering this school, it would be wise to ask specific questions about how the school communicates with parents, such as through a parent portal, email, or a chat group, to ensure that their expectations are met and to avoid potential misunderstandings. Ultimately, for those prioritizing high-quality ballet instruction and a positive environment for their child's confidence, the New Albany Ballet Company has a lot to offer, but clear communication from the start will be key to a successful experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We enjoyed this school the first year or two. However, after multiple minor yet continual and repeating issues in regard to scheduling and communication from the staff, we decided to end our time there. This culminated with our daughter’s last recital. Emails from weeks prior said to pick up the kids after the recital from the stage. That’s how we did it for the Saturday performance. Sunday morning, they sent out an email right before showtime (when I’m trying to get her ready and not really checking emails) to tell us that pick up for some of the kids would be elsewhere. Not a big deal in itself. But we waited in the auditorium like we had the night before. After 20 min of not being called down, we went out to ask someone if something was different or we just missed it. We walked into the foyer and found our daughter sobbing because no one told her about the change, and when we weren’t there, they just sent her out into the crowd with no supervision. No calls or announcements.I called the school that day. Never got a call back. Got an email weeks later telling me no one had mentioned it to them. No apologies. When I asked in person about it again. I was asked if I wasn’t getting the texts. I was told there is a chat group that they said they use as official communication. But after being there for 3 years still had no knowledge of them until asking the owner. We left 3/4 of the way through this year after the same issues kept happening with little to no warning. And I still never got any of those texts.
July 03 · Kyle McCartneyMy daughter has been dancing here since she was 2.5 and now she’s 6. They have taken such great care of her and helped her to gain so much confidence. She’s still young enough that I don’t know if she’ll dance ballet forever, but I’m so glad she’s had such a positive beginning at New Albany Ballet Company. They are absolutely top notch!
October 13 · Michelle SmithI’m a mother of a former student Stephanie Finoti who trained in the trainee pre-professional program with the amazing teachers that they have. NABC gave us the opportunities to help pay for her tuition while Stephanie taught toddler ballet classes there. Im thankful for them because recently Stephanie took her ballet technique to Miss Ohio stage and won the talent award with a ballet variation taught by them!
July 22 · Telma FinotiOur 10yo has been in classes and camps at New Albany Ballet since preschool and has had a wonderful experience. They put on beautiful performances, especially The Nutcracker, but there's a focus on learning commitment and focus, gratitude, making better kids and dancers. It's an impressive dance school, well-run, great teachers, I'm happy my daughter found what she loves with such a well-run program! The classes for younger kids are adorable and well-run but the building is not the most accommodating for parents of young kids, especially with younger siblings, we were happier with Broadway Bound at that age. Also the parking is rough, especially the evenings. The lot isn't big enough and has been intended to go one way but poor signage so parents don't follow that, it's a mess most evenings.
January 12 · Lauren PetrusoProfessional and dedicated staff make this an amazing dance school. It has been exactly what we were looking for when our daughter showed interest in ballet and has both encouraged and challenged her as she has moved through the classes and developed her skills. They provide opportunity for performances at every level and for advancement in return for hard work and dedication to the art.We look forward to many more years of dance and inspiration at this studio!
