★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had one of the best aerial experiences ever at NOCA yesterday. I love that my home studio is so encouraging of trying new studios and instructors and how many classes NOCA offers. I took plus Lyra with Mindy and then chains and it was incredible. She, is incredible. My teachers have all tried to find accommodations for my particular body - I have a swelling condition that can make some moves harder.Mindy had so many little tweaks and tiny adjustments to try to make my struggle points easier and suggestions for spots I asked for specific guidance on and was so encouraging on trying most moves but did not hesitate to tell me to hold back on one she was iffy about. Getting into aerial in my late 30’s with a not standard body type has been daunting at times but last night gave me that high that makes aerial fun and rewarding.I’m a bit bruised thanks to my own ‘I want to do it ALL - PLEASE!’ but I would try to get back in them today because it was so great. I cannot recommend her classes enough for anyone - period but ESPECIALLY for anyone who has a particular modification they need. She hits the elusive balance of accommodating and challenging as well as ‘go get ‘em tiger’ and ‘hm let’s wait on that one’. I’ve felt so amped all day from those classes - thank you for giving me a springboard into next week Mindy, you rock.
July 29 · Elizabeth Fowler (Lizzie)I lived in Johnson City for seven months for work and took classes there the whole time. Caroline, Sam, Gracie, Mindy, Vianna, and Rachel were all such amazing teachers! They helped me step out of my comfort zone and taught me to love contortion and aerial arts. They were so patient and helped me build knowledge upon the fitness background I previously had. I will continue to build upon the foundation they gave me. Thank you NOCA for being my home away from home
January 19 · Vanessa RiveraI originally went to the first space and loved it and was so excited when this second location became available. Just like the one on Gray Station the instructors are encouraging and great at teaching at multiple levels of experience. After years of being a student, I became an aerial yoga teacher myself and had the privilege to teach a few classes in this space and it was a great environment for the class and easy to set up. Can't wait for my next visit.
September 23 · Mithra AlaviI've been taking the adult dance class with Eva Alom for several months now. She is so warm and welcoming to people of all experience and skill levels. She really wants to share and spread her own love of dance with everyone. I've taken dance classes at many different facilities since I was a child and I've never felt as comfortable and welcome as I have by everyone at NOCA. They're a wonderful and talented group!
October 22 · Rosemary AndersonI did the beginner silks and had a really good time. The instructor was extremely nice and professional and the environment was warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend trying it out.
