What truly makes Northwest Ballet Academy worth choosing for families in Illinois is its unwavering commitment to the holistic development of its students. As one parent shared, it is a place where "my daughter also learned the valuable lesson about discipline, hard work, and school/life balance." This speaks volumes about the studio's focus on character building in addition to technical skill. The professional yet family-friendly atmosphere creates a unique and supportive environment where dancers are not just students, but are treated "like family." This is a significant distinction from larger, more competitive studios that may prioritize winning over a student's long-term health and personal growth.
The emphasis on proper training is another key reason. The academy's careful and responsible approach to a dancer’s physical development, such as their policy on when a student is ready for pointe, demonstrates a genuine concern for the well-being of their students. This professional integrity is something that parents can trust, knowing their child is in safe and knowledgeable hands. The fact that their students have been accepted into some of the most respected dance programs in the country—like The Joffrey Ballet and Ballet West—is a powerful indicator of the quality of instruction. This proves that you don't need to be in a high-pressure, expensive studio to receive world-class training.
Finally, the community-oriented and inclusive nature of Northwest Ballet Academy makes it an ideal choice for families. The availability of classes for children and adults, along with the convenience of an accessible location and multiple payment options, removes barriers to participation. The academy fosters a sense of belonging and community, which is just as important as the dance training itself. It's a place where students can build confidence, make friends, and find a lifelong passion, all under the guidance of instructors who genuinely care about their success. For anyone in the Illinois area seeking a top-tier dance education in a nurturing environment, Northwest Ballet Academy is an outstanding and highly recommended choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My daughter has been attending classes at NWBA for a few years now and we could not be happier. Lori, the director, is wonderful, professional and passionate about her work. The teachers take the children’s improvement seriously and work hard to produce growth and skill. The annual spring recital is impressive and truly a demonstration of their commitment to excellence.
April 26 · Sanella LelicMy daughter has been a student at Northwest Ballet for over 12 years. Unlike those fancy and expensive dance studios that focus on competitive dance, NW Ballet is a small, family-owned, dance studio that provides quality ballet instruction from ages 3 to adult. NW Ballet also offers jazz, modern, and character, with several performance opportunities throughout the year. In addition to ballet/dance lesson, my daughter also learned the valuable lesson about discipline, hard work, and school/life balance here at NW Ballet. The instructors have many years of experience in professional dancing and dance instruction. Other studios will start dancers on pointe at the age of 10, regardless of their ability. Here at NW Ballet, they will monitor the growth and development of your dancer and assess when she is physically ready to go on pointe. In the long run, this will avoid injury and protect your dancer's knees, feet, and ankles. They care about you not just as a dancer, but like family. My daughter will be graduating in two years and is already talking about missing everyone here at NW Ballet. It is evident that the quality of ballet instruction they teach at NW Ballet is top-notch. My daughter has auditioned and been accepted to the summer intensive programs at some of the well-known dance companies in the country, such as: The Joffrey Ballet, Ballet West, and Cincinnati Ballet. Additionally, her friends at NW Ballet have been accepted to Alonzo Lines, The Alvin Ailey School, and Ballet Met just to name a few. This just goes to show that Northwest Ballet is an excellent dance studio that can stack up against the competition. I highly recommend it.
July 25 · Mary Rose SantosI came to NWBA as an adult male beginner several years ago. I appreciated the welcoming environment, and continue to enjoy the physical and mental challenges.
August 27 · Ron PrazuWe recently had the pleasure of receiving information and a tour, along with a sample class from Northwest Ballet Academy. We were extremely impressed by their professionalism both on the dance floor and from 'the office'. You could tell that the kids (around kindergarten age) were really enjoying the class. They not only used professional terms and poses but they also found ways to make it understandable and relatable to the kids. One big thing that stood out to me about the class my kid took, was that they had two instructors who worked very well together both providing examples before and during their execution, along with providing positive feedback to the students in the moment.
August 21 · Colleen AndersI got NWBA reference from a fellow mom who has been taking her daughter to ballet lessons in her area over 10 years when I asked her for the best ballet classes in Schaumburg area and she was right. My 6 year old girl started her ballet session with NWBA in last fall and finished her recital in May. She loved the whole experience, made friends and her dancing skills improved. Lori (owner) is fantastic person and entrepreneur and have answered my thousand questions patiently and personally. Everything like Regular classes, recital details, costume rehearsals, etc. was planned and communicated perfectly and in detail.I will recommend these classes to all families.
