★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We met Elissa of Performing Hearts Atlanta almost ten years ago - our daughters were enrolled in her dance classes (tap and jazz, hip hop and ballet) as preschoolers. They fell in love with Elissa's energy and positivity, and they always looked forward to dance. When they were 5 and 6 years-old, they began taking private lessons at Performing Hearts Atlanta two to three times a week. Elissa took them to their first dance competition, and they were hooked! As a lifelong dance instructor and former competitor, Elissa knows what judges look for. She made their intricate costumes (winning multiple "best costume" awards), and expertly choreographed their routines to show off the girls' difference strengths. Over the next three years, Elissa and our daughters attended over a dozen competitions, including multiple regional events and two NATIONAL finals that they qualified for (in Myrtle Beach one year and Orlando the next). They had a top 3 finish at Nationals for their duet, and one daughter had a top 10 for her solo (at age 6!). Elissa has the ability to break down routines into manageable and achievable pieces to tackle, and she incorporates strength and stretching skills. Having taught children for her entire career, she also knows how to keep their attention and keep them motivated and working towards goals. Preparing for a competition is a lot of hard work, but she has always made it so much fun for our girls! In fact, two years ago, Elissa choreographed a routine for one of our daughters and a boy in her class - it was a fun hip-hop routine that had the whole audience clapping and cheering. I can't recommend Elissa and Performing Hearts Atlanta enough! She's the best in Atlanta!
September 08 · Lauren ZgutowiczElissa and Performing Hearts Atlanta…..where do I begin? I think three words can sum up Elissa’s success with her dance students. Patience, Persistence and Creativity. Watching Elissa interact with her students is amazing. She includes them in decisions about all aspects of their dance routine…the song, the dance moves, the costume. Always praising them and trying to incorporate their ideas. Elissa gets on the dance floor, demonstrates and dances with her students. The end result is magic. Local competitions, national competitions. Best costume awards. But the most important outcome is the confidence and self-assurance her students gain. I can’t recommend Elissa more strongly. She is the best!
