★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Fun and engaging children's dance school with nice facilities. Based in the front of the Tannery Marketplace in Newburyport, so there is usually no problem parking. My daughter loves Julie and she is so patient and such a good teacher. There is a window into the room so you can watch the class with a coffee from the Chococoa bakery while still giving the kids space to explore free of parents. Nice wooden floors and great recitals at the local theater. Drop in or full-season payment options. Love this place!
November 15 · Anna JonesI've been going to the Dance Place now for almost 10 years. The adult classes are great because you can drop in anytime and purchase a class card if you'd like to get a better rate. The classes are a great way to stay in shape and blow off some steam. There are ballet, hip hop, modern and zumba classes, just to mention a few. Its fun to try different styles and its nice because everyone is really welcoming. I would definitely refer this studio to anyone looking to dance, whether you are a beginner or have been dancing for years!
January 14 · Wendy H. DurhamCannot say enough positive things about this studio. The teachers are extremely welcoming to new dancers, and encouraging to everyone. There is such a kind atmosphere in the studio, no competition, it is all about having fun and pushing yourself to your best potential. The prices are extremely reasonable, and affordable. The studio is conveniently located in Down Town Newburyport, and due to that attracts dancers from all over, and many different communities. The teachers allow breaks in long classes for 10 minutes to go get food and drinks that could be needed. The studio has an amazing variety of classes, from aerial, to African, to ballet. Out of every dance studio in the area they offer the widest variety of classes. And each class has great quality too. There is everything for everyone! They have such a wide variety of levels that literally everyone would love it here, an advanced dancer with a lot of experience, or a new dancer. Out of the many dance studios I have been to, this is the best! If you are thinking of going here, stop thinking- just go! You WILL NOT regret it. This is not a competition studio, it focuses on performance. Some studios nearby only allow one performance a year to those not in competitions. If you join either Joppa (4th grade to end of high school levels) or Exit Dance Theatre (adult level) you will have MANY opportunities to perform, at the Firehouse in Newburyport, and at Governors Academy . I recently had the opportunity to travel with the studio to New York City in January, and those in high school got to perform at Carnegie Hall! Every year they take that trip and perform at either Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center or Lincoln Center. Last summer, they took a trip to Scotland, and they are going to Spain this summer. This studio and the dance companies they have are NOT SOMETHING you should miss out on! Come to The Dance Place, you will not regret it!
