February 26 · oxana cherI’m sure the dancing was wonderful, but even a $100 ticket in the second row of the Dress Circle was not close enough to appreciate it. The Lyric Opera was built for operas— huge spectacles, not intricate dancing. This is a terrible venue for dance. Also, Alice in Wonderland has been widely marketed for families, which meant I was surrounded by by children who were too far away to be engaged in the performance, and acted, as children do. I was totally distracted as a mature adult who paid a lot for me. I guess we all now have to pay top dollars— over $200– to sit at the front of the main floor now to enjoy great dancing and choreography. How many of us can do that?
June 26 · Janet MroczekYesterday we saw the Joffrey Ballet company perform the final show of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland at the Lyric Opera House. Amanda Assucena was outstanding as Alice and Victoria Jaiani was perfectly cast as The Queen of Hearts! All of the dancers were marvelous - there are just too many to name. We brought mini binoculars to view the details of the costumes and the beautiful set. The Cheshire cat, flamingos and hedgehogs added whimsy to each act. The show was excellent and we really enjoyed all of the performances.
June 23 · Ann KI watched the ballet “Frankenstein” and it deeply impressed me,both with its production and artistic amazing dancers.after this experience, I decided to go to the Nutcracker, expecting , after a walk around the beautiful downtown decorated for Christmas ,fairly tale on stage in the theater, for my 193, $ (the tickets are not cheap )This was worst Nutcracker performance I have seen it in my life. Including small theatersBad idea to change classical ballet and fairy talesBesides, productions that you dance for many seasons, expected that the dancers danced at least synchronously, and as enthusiastically as possible.. The only good thing is the work of the stage decorator (the scenery was wonderful)
December 07 · Marina SapozhnikovaStaff are super friendly and helpful. Ended up getting one drink as we arrived for the show “Studies in Blue”. The attendant asked if we wanted to prepay for a second drink later on, highly recommended. The drink was sitting for us right as the Inter motion started. As for bathrooms, staff calming organized us into a line the moves continuously and quickly. They also called nervous guests that were worried they would miss the start of the next performance. As for the show itself, there were three acts. The first act was amazing, but the star of the show was the second act about the opioid epidemic. My freind cried three times during the performance. Highly recommend!
