★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I took lessons from Ms. Nobuko as an adult student and I LOVED her class. Her class is based on the Vaganova syllabus and is packed with body placement, techniques, strengthening, and stage presentation. She has keen eyes, catching my bad habits and suggesting corrective exercises. I usually came out of her class drenched in sweat. I have since moved out of Florida, but every time I visit another studio, I’ve been told that I have had good training in ballet, thanks to Ms. Nobuko. At one studio in particular, the owner was so impressed, she asked me to share Ms. Nobuko’s teaching style with her. Ms. Nobuko is extremely loving and patient with her young students too. When many other studios push their kids to compete in acrobatic-style dance, Ms. Nobuko teaches traditional forms of ballet as it should be. It’s her goal for everyone to love the art of ballet and she is willing to work with anyone who is ready to put their effort. If you want your children to learn proper ballet techniques, send them to this studio.
December 19 · Akiko BakerExcellent ballet school. Nobuko Walls not only teaches beautiful dancing, but also perfect technique, dedicated training skills and professionalism. September 17 · Dee Dee PerkinsMy daughter attended VAOB for the past 2 yrs but now we have to find a new studio. Our daughter learned well through the first year but this past year virtually nothing. Mrs Nobuko claims she's been working on technique and kept her in a class with much younger students because she didn't have enough students at my daughters level to make a class. On several occasions we inquired regarding the progress of our daughter due to her stating she was board and not learning in class because Mrs Nobuko was catering to the younger students. She also told us that Mrs Nobuko stopped class to answer phone calls on many occasions and sometimes the majority of class. I did witness this once when I came to pick her up a little early. After asking several times and never getting a straight forward answer we waiting until enrollment to tell her how we felt and ask if there was anything that could be done differently for the coming semester. At this point she said "I have parents who give their kids to me and don't question what I do, I don't need this" She was so offended by our asking she immediately refused us our daughter to return. When we explained that we were just concerned parents and trusted her but she said "you need to learn your lesson and you're daughter too"At one point she also told us that our daughter was untalented and lazy. After 2 yrs of faithfully showing up on time, paying on time and patiently waiting for answers to our questions in a matter of minutes we were insulted and kicked out without any consideration for our daughter or our loyalty.I would Highly advise any parent that has any interest in their child's development of dance to be aware of these character flaws for the long run. From one parent to another, good luck!
