★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My daughter and I love Barb's Centre for Dance! All the instructors are great and the studio is very organized and well taken care of. The two low reviews I see regarding being dirty and shutting down taking people's money had nothing to do with this dance studio. I rely on the online reviews myself when I make a decision, so I just felt it was important people were aware those reviews were about a completely different dance studio and owner. The performances and opportunities provided by Barb's are always impressive!
September 18 · Megan HickeyThis studio is a joke! What dance studio MAKES a child take ALL of the classes, that the studio wants them to take, in order to compete? If a child is only interested in one style, why should they be forced to do all in order to have the same opportunities as the other students? What if a family can not afford more than one dance? Is this where we segregate the wealthy from the not-so-wealthy? Shouldn't all families and children have the same opportunity? Is the competition for the child or for the studio? Who's putting the work in? Is the owner, or her teachers, on that stage? NO the children who work hard and put their blood sweat and tears into the dance are on the stage. These children want to dance because dance is a passion. Why are you not encouraging that passion? This holds true to those seniors that have been competing in solos, and group, for many years. All of a sudden this opportunity is no longer available to them for "rule change". Do you really care about the students or only the money? Their years of dedication meant nothing to you did it?I am a dancer. I have danced in shows for Joel Hall, I have taken classes at the Joffrey. Never once did those studios MAKE me dance a genre I did not want. I was still in shows. Joffrey ballet dancers don't take hip hop. You should really research and find out what dance is before you force your money making schemes on children and politely "kick" out seniors because they don't fit your money making plan.Shame on you!!!!! Dance is PASSION not money.
January 24 · Jill QuirogaKids are mean, and the new director group and teachers don't care about it.They are not even fair. They don't mind if their favorite kids wear a white or blue outfit, but prohibit some other kids from wearing a dark color. It was different when Barb was around. They don't just "instruct" how to dance. They should be good "teachers" for these young kids. The current choreographies are not as attractive or competitive as others at the competitions. The Spring Recitals had least audiences because parents were not motivated to get involved. No one wants to see that her kid is playing second fiddle. Everyone can see that many things are biased, not only parts but even good/proper consulting/advising opportunities.Something has to be done soon or it won't be the same as few years ago. I gave three stars because Barb's effort for last 30+ years.
May 20 · WJ Sr.Every time I entered Mirror Image I was horrified at the MESS. Food on the floor, garbage left on tables and floors. Their children's belongings thrown all over the floor. We had to pay for costumes in November, she would order them in January (to get a discount and didn't pass the $ back to the parents). She promised to credit for classes the teacher had cancelled and she never did. She collected recital ticket money and then closed her doors. In her email blast explaining why she closed her doors, she never mentioned the children who worked so hard. Shame on you!
April 16 · Michelle RayBarb’s is a fantastic dance studio with wonderful teachers. Highly recommend. ** Please note, the comments on here from many years ago relate to the old dance studio at this address (Mirror Image) that closed.
