Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Introduce
In the heart of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) stands as a beacon of classical ballet training, with a legacy that spans decades. Founded by Marcia Dale Weary, this school has earned a reputation as a "national treasure," setting a high standard for classical ballet that is respected on an international level. Students from CPYB have been accepted into top ballet schools and companies all over the world, a testament to the rigorous and effective training provided. The mission of the school is to provide a comprehensive and consistent ballet education that nurtures talented students and prepares them for a potential career in dance. The school’s faculty is composed of expert educators who are deeply passionate about the art form, creating an environment that feels like a "second home" to many of its students. The dancers themselves are praised for their incredible technique, artistry, and professionalism, which they display with excellence in everything from the most simple exercises to the most complex choreography.
The commitment to excellence at CPYB is a driving force behind its long-standing success. The school's curriculum is meticulously crafted to ensure that students receive a thorough and well-rounded education in classical ballet. The students' dedication and hard work are consistently praised by those who witness their talent firsthand. However, it's also important to acknowledge that the pursuit of excellence can be incredibly demanding. As one reviewer mentioned, their son had a "terrible experience" with an intense schedule of 13 hours a day, which they felt was different from what was initially promised. This highlights the rigorous nature of a pre-professional training program and the importance for parents and students to fully understand the commitment required before enrolling. While the vast majority of reviews focus on the positive, inspirational aspects of the school, it's clear that the intensity of the program may not be for everyone. The school's reputation is built on its ability to produce world-class talent, and that often comes with an expectation of immense dedication and a challenging training regimen. The school's legacy is defined by its ability to transform young dancers into professional artists, a feat that requires a level of commitment that can be all-consuming for those who choose this path.

What is worth choosing:
For families in the Pennsylvania region, particularly those with a child interested in ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) is a top-tier choice that offers an internationally recognized level of training. The most compelling reason to choose this school is its unparalleled reputation for excellence. As one reviewer eloquently stated, the school is a "national treasure" that produces "incredible" students who display professionalism and artistry in all they do. For serious dancers, the pre-professional program provides a clear and proven path toward a career in dance, with a track record of placements at prestigious schools and companies. The summer intensive program is also a significant draw, offering a chance for students to experience the school's high-caliber training in an immersive setting. The school’s commitment to providing ballet scholarships and a specific focus on children's ballet and male ballet programs also makes it a strong choice for a wide range of aspiring dancers. The positive reviews from those who have attended their workshops and seen the students' performances are a powerful endorsement of the quality of their instruction.
However, it is important for prospective students and parents to be aware of the intensity of the training. While one review highlighted the incredible talent produced, another pointed to a challenging schedule and experience. This underscores the need for a full understanding of the demands of a pre-professional ballet program before enrolling. It’s a commitment that requires immense dedication, which is what helps to produce the caliber of dancers for which CPYB is known. The school's practical features, such as its wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance, show a commitment to inclusivity and convenience that is essential for a modern establishment. The availability of online classes also offers flexibility for those who may not be able to attend in person. In conclusion, for those seeking a ballet academy that offers world-class training, a comprehensive curriculum, and a legacy of success, CPYB is an excellent option. It is a place for students who are serious about their craft and are ready to immerse themselves in a challenging but ultimately rewarding environment, becoming part of an institution that has truly made its mark on the world of classical ballet.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Where to begin? This school is a national treasure, and sets a high standard for classical ballet respected on an international level (students from here are accepted to top schools all over the world!). The staff are warm and inviting, and are each expert educators that love and understand Ballet at the deepest levels. It feels like a second home. The students are incredible in all facets - technique of course, but also artistry and professionalism. From the most simple exercise to the insanely complex, they present themselves with excellence. I am so inspired, and can't wait to return again. Thank you for another fabulous Teacher's Workshop! Rose Taylor - you have changed MANY lives by sharing this syllabus so brilliantly and with such love and care, I'm certain Marcia must be beaming :)
August 10 · AlexMy son had a terrible experience at this ballet school. He received a scholarship. Attended the school for 5 hours, and trained 7 hours. 13 hours a day is crazy. The artistic director promised to train only 4 hours a day. After the contract was signed, everything changed. The teachers here are racist and unprofessional. Many students were injured.
February 27 · Tracy kuI had 2 daughters attend for the first time, this year. One was old enough to stay in the dorms (14) and danced at the warehouse and one was 11 yes and lived with me in a rental and danced at the barn location. They both had tremendous improvement in their technique and loved the program. My oldest had done the nashville 3 week program last year and while that one was a lot more fun and the living arrangements were a lot better, they would choose this one again because of the focus on ballet technique. The only negative was the dorm situation. There were 2 kids per room and barely any social activities planned for them to get together and make new friends. It is a great program for a dancer dedicated to improving their technique.
August 30 · cawitkow2My daughter had a wonderful experience at the Summer Intensive. While the days were long, the mix of faculty she had over the five weeks made her a stronger dancer. Her year-round teacher has positively commented on her form. The dorms and food were great (according to my daughter) as well.
August 30 · Alecia CoffinOur daughter had an outstanding experience at CPYB's SI this year. She not only enjoyed several of her instructors, but embraced the opportunities the faculty offered to grow as a dancer and as a human being. We are grateful to CPYB!
