What is worth choosing
The Delaware House is a truly unique and worthwhile choice for anyone in the Milwaukee area seeking to improve their wellness, primarily due to its distinct and highly personalized approach. Instead of a large, impersonal facility, it operates as a hub for a collective of "independent experts" who are all passionate about their respective fields. This model ensures that clients receive specialized, high-quality care that is tailored to their specific needs. This is particularly evident in the testimonials from dance clients, who rave about the "expertise, care, precision, and fun" their instructor brings to each lesson. The instructors go beyond just teaching steps; they build confidence and help clients discover a genuine "deep love of dance," which is a far more rewarding experience than simply learning a routine.
Another key factor is the collaborative nature of the professionals at the Delaware House. With services ranging from personal training and yoga to physical therapy and skincare, clients have access to a network of experts who can work together to provide holistic care. For example, a personal trainer can consult with a physical therapist to ensure a client's workout is safe and effective, leading to better results and a lower risk of injury. This integrated approach to wellness is a significant advantage that is not commonly found in other studios or gyms.
The environment is also a major draw. As one review notes, the instructors are "patient, encouraging, and incredibly skilled," creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere where even complete beginners feel confident. This is a place where you are not just a number; you are part of a community. The personal attention and dedication that clients receive make them feel appreciated and valued. The seamlessness of the experience, from the professional response to inquiries to the acceptance of various payment methods, further enhances the overall value. For anyone in Milwaukee looking for a truly personalized, professional, and supportive wellness experience, the Delaware House is an exceptional choice. It is a place to not only achieve your goals but also to find joy in the process.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My wife and I were lucky enough to learn an amazingly choreographed first dance from Melissa before our wedding in September of last year. Not only were we absolutely wowed by the first dance (along with all our guests), but we found a deep love of dance through Melissa and her awesome lessons! We've met with Melissa bi-weekly since then for a myriad of lessons in all sorts of dances! You name it, she can teach it; from rumba, salsa, cha-cha, and swing, to waltz, foxtrot, and all the ballroom dances. The expertise, care, precision, and fun she brings to each lesson are top notch and we completely adore her! We thank her all the time for all the fun she's brought us and know she can do the same to anyone else looking to learn!-The Greiners
January 25 · Will GreinerWe had the absolute BEST experience working with Melissa Dexter for our wedding dance! My husband and I were complete beginners and we were both a little nervous about learning in such a short time. But in just two months, Melissa prepared us to confidently perform a beautiful first dance in front of all our family and friends.Melissa was patient, encouraging, and incredibly skilled at breaking down the steps in a way that was easy to follow. She made every lesson fun, and we always left feeling more confident than when we walked in. The personal attention and dedication to making sure our dance was uniquely ours meant so much to us.If you’re looking for a wedding dance instructor who is not only professional but also creates a relaxed and fun atmosphere, I cannot recommend Melissa highly enough!
October 21 · Scott R.I hesitate to write this because I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I had one of the most bizarre experiences ever at the Delaware House and I hope this provides constructive feedback. This event was hosted in conjunction with High Vibes MKE and Institute of Light for a solstice sound bath/reiki/meditation experience. I've had profound life-changing experiences before in all of these modalities, so I thought I'd give it a try at the Delaware House. What transpired was an odd event that left a weird taste in my mouth. I assume these businesses have many repeat customers, because the hosts (four in total) were chatting with what appeared to be friends and clients. But when I arrived at the event I was not greeted warmly or welcomed. I didn't know where to go, what to do, where the bathrooms were, or who the hosts were, and I felt awkward to ask because most people knew their way around and I felt a little like I'd just been swept through the door. They did explain this information to other people so I figured it out by watching others. When the event started and the hosts introduced themselves, they explained that the intent of the event was to pull forth each person's spirit animal. Now, I'm not one to judge based on one's presentation of race, ethnicity, or culture, so I kept an open mind, but they seemed to be combining spiritual modalities from many different sources, including Indigenous, new age (Intergalactic Federation of Light), Greek, Roman, Abrahamic, Japanese, etc. and while I'm not against learning and combining spiritual/healing practices, I had questions about what lineage of healing and wisdom this practice was coming from and its authenticity. I wish they had explained more. What made a flag go up for me was that the hosts who had done this before seemed surprised to remember that reptiles, fish, and invertebrates could also be spirit animals. I wondered if they sort of forgot about three of the major classes in the animal kingdom? They passed out eye masks and invited folks to relax with blankets and pillows, which was thoughtful. The ceremony itself was fine, and the entire session was scheduled for two hours. They even suggested we might go overtime. But ultimately it ended 45 minutes early. I came out of it, looked at the time, and wondered, "are we done?" For what I paid, and considering we started a little late, this was perhaps the most disappointing aspect. The hosts invited us to go on our phones to look up the spirit animal they pulled for us while a book was passed around. I perceive smart technology as being an agitator and barrier to relaxation, so I found it odd that this was their recommendation immediately after a meditation. Other than that, there was no closing ritual, no thanking us for coming, no discussion, and no goodbye. Even when I lingered as one of the last people in the room as folks headed out, none of the hosts approached me or showed any interest in me, and frankly I didn't feel comfortable going up and introducing myself at that point. I did look up the animal that they pulled for me, both in books and online, and couldn't identify anything that I found relatable. But I understood I could have a personal bias, so I consulted friends and family and asked if they could see a connection between this animal and me, and they all laughed and unanimously said it was the antithesis of who I am as a person.I give the experience more than one star because the sound bath itself and the reiki were genuinely enjoyable, but the atmosphere and sense of authenticity around the experience were not. I support the Delaware House's mission, particularly as a dancer, but I cannot recommend either of these community partners or similar events.
July 21 · Lia Smith-RedmannWe had the pleasure of working with Melissa Dexter, an incredible ballroom dance teacher, who transformed our wedding dance experience. My husband, initially an uncomfortable dancer, found confidence under her guidance. She tailored a manageable routine that felt natural and personal to us, making our first dance truly memorable. Her expertise in helping us choose the perfect song that resonated with our love story was the ultimate touch. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience—highly recommended!
September 28 · Carmen CayI got hooked on salsa dancing after attending one of the First Friday Salsa Socials. I started taking classes with Matt and Betsy soon after, and have been visiting the Delaware House on a weekly basis for classes ever since! It's a very clean, open, and well maintained facility with a wide variety of services. I come up from Racine each week, and I know of others who come from out of town as well to take advantage of all the Delaware House has to offer. I highly recommend checking it out!
