Freedom Dabka Group Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a vibrant, culturally rich, and incredibly high-energy form of entertainment, the Freedom Dabka Group stands out as the premier performing arts group and dance school specializing in traditional Dabka. Dabka (also spelled Dabke or Dabka) is a centuries-old, celebratory Arab folk dance originating from the Levant (Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan). Characterized by rhythmic stomping, line dancing, and synchronization, it is a staple at weddings and joyous cultural events throughout the Middle East and is now a celebrated fixture in the New York community.
Established in 2012, the Freedom Dabka Group (FDG) has proudly evolved into a cultural icon within the New York and New Jersey Middle Eastern community. Starting with a group of six family members deeply passionate about their heritage, the group’s mission is clear: to preserve and spread the Palestinian culture through their captivating performances, chanting the traditional **Zaffa** (a festive grand entrance) and performing traditional, deep-rooted Dabka. They expertly blend ancestral folklore with a modern, highly engaging approach, ensuring their performances are attractive and exciting for contemporary audiences of all backgrounds.

October 20 · Mohammad TousFDG did a Palestinian zaffe and grand entrance for our Palestinian-American wedding at Perona Farms and brought the noise! Y’all did an amazing job uplifting our Palestinian roots and hyping the crowd. I am so happy we went with FDG! The singing sounded so good, the drums were hyped the bagpipe was such a nice emotional touch; even though we adopted it from the colonizers lol. Our grand entrance was so well choreographed and timed!!! The venue staff was questioning them about the timing but they new exactly what they were doing - PROFESSIONAL! Job very well done. Y’all represented our culture loudly and proudly- thank you so much to Amer and the boys with FDG from the bottom of our hearts. Dalia & Johnny 🇵🇸 💚
