Markey Studio Introduce
For decades, the dance studio located on Ohio Street has been a pillar of the St. Paul community, a cherished gathering place where generations of Minnesotans have discovered the joy of movement, rhythm, and artistic expression. Now, under the revitalized name of Markey Studio and dedicated new ownership led by Kristin, this historic dance school continues its legacy, offering a fresh, positive, and community-focused experience for dancers of all ages and skill levels. Markey Studio isn't just a place to learn steps; it’s an environment designed to foster confidence, creativity, and lasting friendships without placing undue burden on families' time or finances.
Recognized in the community as a point of interest and a vibrant Dance School, Markey Studio successfully balances high-quality instruction with an accessible, welcoming atmosphere. It upholds the tradition of providing lessons that allow students to grow in skill, poise, rhythm, and technique, while consciously cultivating a fun and positive social environment. This studio understands the unique needs of the modern Minnesota family, which is why it has been praised for not requiring unreasonable time commitments, making it feasible for students to pursue dance alongside school, sports, and other interests. The fact that the studio has been a "staple in the community for decades" speaks volumes about its enduring quality and the trust it has built with local parents and dancers.
The ownership transition has clearly energized the studio's commitment to its students. Kristin's leadership is highlighted in reviews as "doing amazing work," ensuring that the core values of the former institution (previously Estyre Brindle Dance Theater) are not only preserved but enhanced. For families looking for a local, quality activity that is genuinely "Good for kids," Markey Studio provides an enriching path for artistic development and physical fitness right in the neighborhood. Moreover, the studio caters not just to the young but offers a breadth of classes for adults, ensuring that individuals across the Twin Cities metro area can find their place on the dance floor, whether picking up a new hobby or returning to a past passion. This multi-generational approach strengthens the studio's role as a true community asset in St. Paul.
One of the practical and appreciated aspects of the studio is its progressive approach to attire. The commitment to a "chill dress code" is a refreshing departure from more rigid, traditional dance environments. This simple, yet important, policy makes dance more accessible for youth and teens who might feel uncomfortable or deterred by strict requirements for leotards and tights, allowing them to focus fully on their learning and enjoyment. This focus on comfort and inclusivity truly makes Markey Studio a uniquely Minnesota-friendly place to dance.

Markey Studio Reviews
This Dance studio is under new ownership, and Kristin is doing amazing work. Our kids are back (after also attending when it was EBDT), It's been a staple in the community for decades, still offering lessons to grow in skill, poise, rhythm and technique while giving the students a fun and positive social experience and lasting friendships....and without unreasonable time or financial commitments! We have always appreciated the chill dress code, which makes it more accessible for kids and teens who are uncomfortable with more traditional tights and leos. So glad this is back in our community!
