★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1today was the first time that i’d gone to mclaughlin, though i’ve known of the studio for a couple years. i’d always been interested in attending a show, but i’d never gotten the opportunity. today happened to be a run of my absolute favorite piece of media - the lightning thief musical (aka percy jackson and co). i had never seen a musical before today, but i am so ecstatic that this musical was my first, and ESPECIALLY glad that it was with this studio and cast (& crew!).walking into the show i was a bit late, but i only missed the first song or two (i still feel bad!!), and nobody looked at me weird! because of the size of the mclaughlin building, the theater ended up being more intimate than i first imagined. this experience ended up working very well for me, because i got to see the passion and excitement on the cast’s faces (which was absolutely the best thing ever).first of all, this studio is run INCREDIBLY well. admittedly, i don’t know much about theater but the organization on the stage and positioning of the actors was incredible, and fit perfect with the set as well (set was AMAZING too). the actors, i could go on forever about these kids (and adults!), were absolutely so incredible. i feel like writing this isn’t giving them as much recognition as they need, because they were SO so astounding. i’m not sure the ages of the cast, but the main three were maybe 13-16? it’s hard to tell. they act so amazingly well and are filled with so much passion that it made me tear up MULTIPLE times.ALSO. these kids can SING! incredibly. i know it’s in the requirements for starring in a musical but WOW! every number was so great. i really hope this theater gets more traction, because i know everyone on this team can go places. support these kids, y’all. 🤍
July 28 · Genevieve DillonMcLaughlin theatre company is a great educational theatre company with experienced staff and a very welcoming environment! The shows are always great!
March 14 · Lorien WaymireUnlike other, larger childrens’ theaters in the area, McGlaughlins cares about your child’s time. They customize the rehearsal schedule so that your child shows up when it is time to rehearse the scenes in which your child is featured. In other words, kids are not sitting around in a room unsupervised for hours waiting for their five minutes of stage time. Also, because they are a smaller theater, they work really hard to make sure your child has opportunities to play larger roles, even if they have to double cast in order to accomplish that. It’s a lot more work for the directors, but the result is a rich and meaningful experience for the students.
September 14 · Katie DoakMy kids have had a wonderful experience at McLaughlin theater and the director is amazing!
December 31 · Jen McInturffOur daughter has developed so many skills here from singing to acting to playing the piano. The staff treat you like family, everyone should send their kids here.
