★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had a dancer at Midwest for years when she decided she was ready to try out for the team. We paid for the audition camp but our dancer was never given the opportunity to dance for the audition. When I asked about what occurred, I was met with rudeness and hostility claiming that my daughter was lying about dancing in the audition. My daughter is very averse to any confrontation or conflict, so she would never let me go ask the owners about her lack of opportunity to audition, unless she had not gotten to dance. I emailed a very polite email asking questions about how auditions are conducted. I received no response whatsoever. Not only is the lack of communication unprofessional as a business owner, it is unacceptable conduct when your job is teaching and mentoring children in a team sport. We have since found a new dance studio with much better communication and a less toxic team environment. However, we cannot fault Miss Sophie who is an exceptional dance instructor, choreographer, and really cares for her dancers!
August 17 · Exhausted VetMamaOur girls love dancing at Midwest Dance! Bonny is passionate about dance! It shows in her music & costume selection, as well as her choreography. Nathan & Bonny treat the dancers like her own children. Highly recommend!
September 23 · Nicole LewisHad an absolutely terrible experience. Was there for 2 months. Wish I could give 0 ⭐️ review. The teachers do not make you feel welcomed. The only time I felt welcomed was when I was handing my money to them signing my daughter up. Granted my daughter signed up later than most of the girls I was told a lot of different things. I went in the day before my daughters first dance class to get the right tights for her and was sold a wrong pair that were not convertible. On the day of my daughters first dance class I even tried to pay for everything up front including costume as well as shoes and was told to wait to see if she liked dance first by a teacher. By the time I went to pay again they told me it was too late and that she couldn’t participate in the recital. She was devastated but didn’t let it get her down. I told her she could dance in the next one. One day I took her in to dance and brought my friend to watch her. I was told by a teacher that I couldn’t have my coffee in there, As all the other moms started sliding there’s under their seats and behind their legs. I had watched every parent in there bring in snacks and drinks and felt a little singled out because the first time I do it, it’s a problem? Seemed a little weird to me and my friend who was there but I apologized and said it wouldn’t happen again. After two months of being there my daughter came out crying one day because she felt left out of pictures they took. I went in and asked about it they explained to my daughter that it was just for rehearsal placements so they didn’t forget where the girls were . My daughter was still sad but ok with the answer given. I asked her if she was ok before we left thanked the teacher and went on my way. We went home and I got an email telling me that my daughter was no longer allowed to dance there because I questioned the teachers as to why my child was crying.I was told I was confused about the handbook. When I asked how I was confused, I got no answer. I asked for my money back for the annual fee of $30 since she was only there 2 months and never heard from them again. Still have not received my money back. I had to pay the annual fee upfront with monthly fee of $55. Wish we had a better experience but relieved to figure things out before we where to involved. I hope everyone has a better experience if they choose to dance here!
