Located at 7500 Germantown Ave, this dance school is more than just a training ground; it’s a "second home" for its students, as beautifully expressed by a dancer who has been part of the family for 11 years. The older students serve as inspiring role models for the younger dancers, creating a cohesive and supportive community. The studio is renowned for its major productions, including the highly anticipated annual Nutcracker performance. This is an "enormous undertaking," yet PDT is "incredibly organized and has a fantastic communication plan" that makes the experience both easy and "incredibly rewarding" for everyone involved. Beyond the stage, the community at PDT is one of its most cherished features, where students and staff create "unbreakable bonds." ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am continuously impressed by the level of professionalism, commitment, and organization that PDT exhibits. My daughter always feels challenged, but supported and inspired. The older dancers are wonderful role models for the younger dancers and the teachers are strict in a loving and warm way. I can confidently say that my daughter exhibits resilience and a grit that I'm not sure she'd have without being at PDT for the past 4 years. The Nutcracker production is an enormous undertaking, but PDT is incredibly organized and has a fantastic communication plan that makes it easy and incredibly rewarding.
July 29 · Shannon RyanI have been dancing at PDT for 11 years and have loved every moment of it. PDT helps you grow to be the dancer you dream of being, while teaching valuable life lessons such as respect, dedication, teamwork, and integrity. Each year you have the opportunity to perform in the Nutcracker, which is always the highlight of the dance year. In addition, the older dancers get to attend Regional Dance America each spring to take master classes with inspiring teachers and perform in front of other studios from around the country. Also in the spring we do a different ballet every year. Some examples are Cinderella, Wizard of Oz, and Sinatra Songbook. At the end of the school year, the younger students perform in the June Showcase and the older students perform in Breaking Ground. This is a chance for students to show their family and friends what they’ve been working on all year. Besides all the opportunities that this studio provides, PDT’s community is one of my favorite parts about the studio. The staff is supportive and nurturing, and the students become so close and create unbreakable bonds. Philadelphia Dance Theatre truly is and forever will be my second home and a place where I can do what I love with the people I love.
July 27 · Naomi McClureIf you are looking for a dance studio that not only trains them well in classical ballet, but also other dance styles and offers a second home for your child, look no further, PDT is it! Both of my daughters have been dancing at PDT since they were 4, now 14 & 10. We are grateful to be involved in PDT's community and would not have it any other way. Not only are the shows they put on professional, but the camaraderie amongst the dancers is warming to experience.
July 27 · Christina LaffredoAs a parent, finding a dance program that goes beyond technique and performance can feel like a challenge. But from the moment we stepped into this studio, it was clear that this dance company is something special. It’s not just about steps and recitals—it’s about heart, growth, and connection. What sets this studio apart is its unwavering commitment to nurturing a child’s love of dance in a supportive, inclusive environment. The instructors genuinely care about each dancer—not just as students, but as individuals. They create a space where kids feel safe to express themselves, explore their creativity, and discover the joy of movement. But the impact goes beyond the studio walls. This dance company actively fosters a sense of community, encouraging teamwork, kindness, and support among dancers and families alike. It’s a place where friendships blossom and confidence grows, and where every child, regardless of experience or ability, is celebrated for who they are.Philadelphia Dance Theatre has become more than a studio for us, they are our family- we love them beyond words and can not recommend them more. If I could give more then 5 stars, I would!
July 26 · Kara SpaldingPDT is an excellent classical ballet school. This is my child’s eleventh year dancing at PDT. For the youngest dancers (pre-ballet), the focus is age appropriate and centers joy through movement. At all levels, a sense of community and support is fostered. As students progress, they receive disciplined training, which benefits them holistically. Some students go on to become professional dancers. All students learn resilience and respect. Students have the opportunity to participate in amazing productions each year. My child considers PDT a second home.
