Reason's World Taekwondo Academy, LLC Introduce
For Oregonians seeking a martial arts school that truly instills discipline, respect, and a strong sense of character, Reason's World Taekwondo Academy, LLC stands out as a premier choice in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Operating as a Taekwondo school, Karate school, Martial arts school, and Self defense school, the academy offers a comprehensive physical fitness program for students of all ages and experience levels. What truly distinguishes this location, particularly for local users in the Salem and Keizer areas, is its dedication to traditional values and merit-based advancement, providing a structured yet highly encouraging environment.
Founded by Head Instructor Randy Reason, the academy operates on the philosophy of developing people with "black belt attitudes, black belt hearts, and black belt abilities." This focus goes far beyond physical skill, emphasizing crucial character qualities like respect, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and leadership. This holistic approach resonates strongly with parents and adults alike who are looking for more than just exercise; they seek a transformative practice. One local parent noted that their child's skills and behavior have "improved, as has her appreciation for taekwondo, at this school," highlighting the positive character development alongside the physical training.
The curriculum is well-rounded, incorporating the Korean martial arts of Taekwondo and Hapkido, alongside self-defense techniques. Students learn a variety of techniques including kicks, blocks, punches, and combo moves, complemented by safe sparring practice that can be conducted with or without gear. Crucially, the school is deeply rooted in the philosophy and standards of World Taekwondo (WT) and the Kukkiwon, the global governing body for Taekwondo. This ensures that the training is authentic, internationally recognized, and of the highest quality, positioning Reason's World Taekwondo Academy as a serious and respected institution in the Oregon martial arts landscape.
An outstanding feature frequently praised by parents is the academy's strict, but fair, merit-based belt testing system. Unlike other institutions that may prioritize time or money, at Reason's World Taekwondo Academy, belts are truly earned. A reviewer confirmed this, stating that Mr. Reason "doesn't just hand out belts based on how much money you spend or how long you've been there. You have to pass each test to actually earn the next belt, if you fail he will tell you what you need to work on." This commitment to integrity ensures students develop a genuine sense of accomplishment and learn the value of perseverance, which are invaluable life lessons for the Oregon community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My 10yr old boy has been going to Mr Reason's class for just over 2 years. Mr Reason has adapted quickly to being a Taekwondo teacher for young kids. He made it through Covid and even expanded his classes a lot. He teaches the kids respect and discipline (thought in my eyes he could be a little more assertive with that aspect). I sit and watch most every class and if my kids become to troublesome I make the stay after and apologize. Some parents drop their kids off and wait in the parking lot which is totally fine and I've done every now and then. But with not being there to watch how their kids behave, some kids take advantage of this knowing that Mr Reason isn't there to discipline them as a parent. Also, there is safe sparing practice (with or without gear) and they learn different kicks, blocks, punches, and combo moves. But the best, most important thing I like about Mr Reason, is that he doesn't just hand out belts based on how much money you spend or how long you've been there. You have to pass each test to actually earn the next belt, if you fail he will tell you what you need to work on and take another test when he feels you are ready. I've seen many other places where they just hand out a new belt every few months without even testing for it. Mr Reason really cares about everyone in his classes and remembers everyone by name. He even offers 2 free classes incase you wanna try it out, so feel free to come check him out.
March 12 · Kristen MatlockMy 10 year old daughter joined this taekwondo school after doing taekwondo in another state. We were very happy to find Randy Reason’s classes! The classes are small and a real effort is made to make each class unique, challenging, and fun. I appreciate that my daughter is encouraged to practice black belt character qualities and is recognized for getting “good deed” sheets completed by her family, teachers, etc. to bring back to class. My daughter’s skills and behavior have improved, as has her appreciation for taekwondo, at this school.
March 15 · Ali RiggsI am thoroughly pleased with the instruction that I received at Reason Taekwondo. Before I moved to Eugene, OR, I searched for a local dojang that was similar to the training that I had become accustomed to at other gyms. When I found one, I thought that it was decent enough. However, with each passing week, I loathed having to train there. After the awareness of the coronavirus and subsequent quarantine, I became certain that I would not return. I did not want to abandon my training; so when it was deemed safer to meet in-person with guidelines, I researched gyms. Reason Taekwondo is where I chose to train. The instructor is knowledgeable, provides rigorous warm-ups, and is professional. My 120 mile round-trip was worth the drive.
March 24 · Terilyn LawsonTerrific studio. I joined two years ago as an adult student. Mr. Reason is able to accommodate and include multiple levels of experience and athleticism. He knows how to set goals that match the particular student's needs and abilities & maintains an atmosphere of friendliness and respect.
March 04 · Maizie RednerI took my niece here and even those she was scared and intimidated by the possibility of being the only girl reason was really awesome and it turned out she would not be the only girl that was really cool to see how patient and understanding he was with her and her anxiety
