Sacramento Ballet Introduce
The Sacramento Ballet is a beacon of artistic excellence and a cornerstone of California’s capital city. Since its founding in 1954, it has been dedicated to enriching the community through the powerful vehicle of dance. As the region's only dance company to maintain a roster of full-time professional dancers, the Sacramento Ballet captivates thousands of patrons each year with its enthralling performances, community outreach, and top-tier dance school. It's a place where world-class artistry meets local passion, offering a unique opportunity for Californians to experience professional ballet without having to travel far.
The organization is comprised of two primary components: the professional dance company and the School of Sacramento Ballet. The company's repertoire is diverse, ranging from classic ballets like "The Nutcracker" to innovative, contemporary works by internationally renowned choreographers. This blend of tradition and modernity showcases the versatility of the company's dancers and provides a rich and varied experience for audiences. Productions are often praised for their high quality, with one review noting a show was "beautiful and moving," and another describing the dancers as "amazing" and the choreography as "outstanding."
The School of Sacramento Ballet serves as the official training academy for the company, providing a conservatory-style curriculum that prepares students for success on and off the stage. The school's faculty is comprised of experienced professionals, including current and former company dancers and graduates from prestigious dance programs. The instructors are known for their ability to encourage student progress, with a parent’s review quoting their dancer: "Mr. And Mrs. Rhodes give so much and are great teachers, Ms. Bella inspires and motivates, Ms. Alexa encourages the student to focus on muscles and technique, and Ms. Genevieve really cares about the students." This personal touch and dedication to student growth are key factors that set the Sacramento Ballet apart. While there have been a variety of personal experiences with the administrative side of the organization, the general consensus on the teaching staff and the quality of the performances remains high, making it a highly respected institution.
The Sacramento Ballet is conveniently located at 2420 N St #100, Sacramento, CA 95816, within the E. Claire Raley Studios for the Performing Arts (CLARA). ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1These were the words I heard from director Laico: "She's not good for ballet, she puts her daughter to learn football, because she'll never study here again...there's no clinic for treatment here, her daughter came limping into the performance, like that oh !"and he imitated how she was walking at the presentation, in the room next to the reception, where he was talking to me. There , on the moment, was no class movement in the corridors. It was simply horrible. I felt the discrimination firsthand. How after 6 years, do they treat a child this way?She had had knee surgery, and the doctor allowed her to do ballet after some recovery time, but sometimes she had pain.I asked the director Laico, if she could participate in the show on a weekday, and he friendly said : yes.But after the holidays, I went to reorganize myself to enroll, and Sara told me that she needed to do class 2 again.I tried to find out in person, Sara shouted at me at reception, justifying that she would not be able to participate in the school, and if she wanted to participate, she would never go to class 3, soon after she declared: "you embarrass me".I asked to speak to the Laico, Director, to find out exactly what was happening, I wanted to know more details, when I was attacked with these words: "your daughter will never study here again, why don't you put her in football? She has no conditions to be a ballet student here, because this is a serious academy, and please: Get out!He opened the door for me to go.The next day I returned, and a few hours ago I had given my opinion in the review. He paid attention to me and asked me to take it off, and I, at the same time, promised to take it off if he paid attention to the case, or at the most talked to the student, my daughter, as a teacher and director. Even though she was in pain, she wanted to participate with her class friends who had known each other for a long time!At the very least, she would have to receive a polite approach: Manu, how was your recovery?! Congratulations on participating, you will need to take class two because you are on medical leave..., you know, as a civilized teacher. That never happened, so here is my review.
January 30 · Israele FerreiraThe staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The instructors are amazing and seem to encourage their students progress. From the words of my dancer, "Mr. And Mrs. Rhodes give so much and are great teachers, Ms. Bella inspires and motivates, Ms. Alexa encourages the student to focus on muscles and technique, and Ms. Genevieve really cares about the students." The quality of the performances, like Nutcracker, really shows off the students abilities and has been a great opportunity for them to experience being on stage.
August 07 · Chennea RussellSac Ballet has an incredible training program, which focuses on and develops technique, as well as artistry and a successful mindset. All of the staff, from the director, to the teachers, to anyone you encounter at the Front Desk, are approachable and helpful. They have a robust boys program, which is a delight to see. Anyone with a boy ages 8-18 should inquire about their generous scholarship program. In addition to ballet, dancers also have the opportunity to participate in contemporary, modern, and hip hop style classes. The performances are well organized and you can see the progression of levels from beginning to pre-professional dancers. We had a very positive experience with their program and highly recommend it!
July 29 · Michelle Fox SullensGoing for The Nutcracker has become a tradition. Year after year it doesn't disappoint! If you've never been and are waffling, just go you wont regret it. It's worth paying extra for the closer seats in my opinion, but I'm sure any seat will do! I've been lucky to get good opening night seats every yr I've went.=>)Live orchestra, and they're incredible!
February 01 · GloriaWe and our daughter are very pleased to be part of the Sacramento Ballet Academy family,Thank you very much for this wonderful times spent within your walls, which perfectly helped our child overcome the effects of stress caused by the need to move as refugees from the war in Ukraine.Your kindness towards her was able to instill confidence and hope for a better life here in Sacramento. We are also very grateful to the entire teaching staff in the professional growth of our daughter as a future ballet dancer. We also want to thank the school administration, in Your person and in the person of the Mr. Director, for the opportunity to study on a scolarship. This was a highly appreciated help for our family, since we are just beginning to gradually gain financial stability in the United States as newly arrived immigrants. Our daughter really wants to continue to study classical dancing and, of course, sees her future connected with art, and all this is only thanks to our wonderful teachers and our wonderfulAcademy.Bravo, mesdames et messieurs !
