September 27 · rekha musaleMy daughter has been learning Kathak at Tarana Dance Academy with her guruji, Debjani, since she was just 4 years old. Today, at 13, she continues her journey with the same passion and discipline instilled in her from the very beginning. When we first started, she barely knew anything about dance—we joined mainly because I personally loved dance and the academy was close to home. But what started as convenience soon became a blessing.Debjani is incredibly disciplined, deeply passionate about Kathak, and truly dedicated to her students. She nurtures not just dance skills but also love for the art form, discipline, and perseverance. Even when the journey felt challenging, the way Debjani inspires her students kept them motivated to keep going and work harder. Tarana has become more than just a school—it feels like a family where dance lovers learn, grow, and celebrate together. One of the things I admire most is the personal attention Debjani gives each student. She goes into the smallest details, reviews practice videos, shares her own, and gives constructive feedback to help every child improve. Watching her teach has been inspiring even for me as a parent—I’ve learned so much just by observing her classes. The academy offers annual recitals and plenty of performance opportunities, and Debjani goes above and beyond to make them special. From arranging professional Kathak costumes from India to bringing in live tabla and sarangi players, she ensures the experience is authentic and enriching. Students also have the opportunity to take regular exams, earn certifications from a university in India, and even continue learning and performing after graduation. We are truly grateful to have found Tarana Dance Academy and look forward to being part of this beautiful journey for years to come.
September 24 · Tejasvi DesaiTaraana Dance Academy is not just any ordinary dance school. It has the gurukul environment where our teacher, Debjani di invests in raising us not only as good dancers but also instill good values in us. I’ve been under Debjani di’s guidance for only a year but have learnt so much, it’s immeasurable. She’s always available for us and gives extra classes and Riyaaz sessions during Kathak exams and summers too. This was my first year taking an exam and she took time personally with every student to make sure we ace it. And we sure did! She takes time to make us perfect in recitations and Tatkar and is relentless and never gives up on us. The time and dedication she has towards her students is remarkable. I’m so blessed and glad to have found a guru in her. 🙏🏼
