For residents of Oregon seeking a truly unique and empowering way to get fit, have fun, and express themselves creatively, Afterglow Aerial Arts is a breathtaking destination. More than a traditional "sports complex" or a typical "gym," this vibrant space is a "circus," a "dance school," and a "theater company" all rolled into one. It is a hub for aerial arts, where students of all ages can learn to fly, climb, and perform on a variety of apparatuses. The studio's philosophy is one of support, empowerment, and inclusivity, as reflected in a glowing review from a parent: "My 7 year old has taken a weekly class there for almost a year and 3 camps so far. She feels so safe, supported, and cared for." This commitment to a positive and nurturing environment is what sets Afterglow Aerial Arts apart as a true gem in Portland's thriving arts and wellness scene.
The welcoming nature extends to all who enter, with the business identifying as "women-owned," "LGBTQ+ friendly," and a "Transgender safe space." This intentional focus on creating a supportive community ensures that everyone feels at home and can explore their potential without judgment. A student's review encapsulates the transformative experience: "I had no strength and couldn’t even get up into the apparatus; now I’m easily climbing silks to the top!" This is a place where you can challenge yourself, discover new strengths, and become part of a community that celebrates every victory, big or small.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We love Afterglow SO much! It’s located inside such a special old building. The space is warm and welcoming. My 7 year old has taken a weekly class there for almost a year and 3 camps so far. She feels so safe, supported, and cared for. She loves all of the coaches, especially Candi and all of the apparatuses, especially Sling. I’m looking forward to trying out the adult beginner classes too!
August 16 · crystal covelleBy far the best of the two aerial gyms I’ve tried! The teachers here are fabulous. When I started out ten months ago I had no strength and couldn’t even get up into the apparatus; now I’m easily climbing silks to the top! I’m having a grand time on Lyra, silks, sling, and trapeze, and I feel stronger and fitter than I’ve been in over a decade.
June 07 · Christina DeAngeloI have been taking yoga classes with Afterglow since 2020 and have taken a few circus classes. As a beginner contortion student who has never been on a silk, I feel inspired to try new things and comfortable to not be perfect in this studio. The owner has a lot of classes and balances what she offers here with everything from beginner to professional classes. This is a space that I feel immensely comfortable in and I always look forward to my next class here. The circus world isn’t always welcoming, I’ve found other studios to be competitive and cliquey. This place is good, clean fun with an option to train at a world class level.I highly recommend joining a class at any age or skill level, don’t be afraid to try something new here! This is a comfortable environment where I am able to express myself and challenge myself to new acts.
April 24 · Stephanie UlrichUpdate: I still adore Afterglow. All the coaches are so caring and accepting of all students and parents. You get to be who you are and want to be here. My kiddo has attended for almost 5 years now and we won't stop. They have become part of our family in so many ways. Students get to express themselves freely and if one is so inclined to be on the stage, opportunities are available. I just can't say enough about how wonderful Afterglow really is! ❤️Amazing place to get some usual exercise with the most beautiful souls teaching you techniques. Recently had a birthday party that was the "best day ever!" according to the birthday kiddo. Worth every penny! Can't say enough or how much I love Afterglow.
April 24 · Mel HolmesI’ve been going here for years and, after attending a couple other studios in the greater Portland area, Afterglow is definitely my favorite. I love the space, their approach, the instructors, and the overall vibe of the place. I genuinely look forward to my class every week and have really found community here. Highly recommend!
