The studio offers a rich and diverse curriculum that caters to a wide spectrum of interests and skill levels. From the youngest dancers taking their first steps in "Dance with Me" and "Creative Dance" classes to advanced students honing their technique, there is a class for everyone. The studio's commitment to providing a holistic dance education is evident in its extensive program list, which includes everything from foundational ballet and jazz to energetic hip hop and acrobatic arts. For those who love the stage, Blue Dog Dance also provides numerous performance opportunities throughout the year, including a fall show, a winter holiday production, and an annual spring recital. Beyond the regular classes, Blue Dog Dance is deeply integrated into the local community, offering special programs and events. The studio’s Performing Group and Royal Blue Dance Company provide dedicated dancers with additional opportunities to perform at local festivals, retirement homes, and competitions. A particularly notable feature is the annual Gala organized by the high school students of the Royal Blue Dance Company, which raises money for Seattle Children’s Hospital, showcasing how the performing arts can be a powerful force for good. The studio's focus on building confidence, teamwork, and determination in its students is at the core of its philosophy, making it a place where dancers not only develop their physical skills but also grow as individuals.
With a focus on both technical proficiency and artistic expression, Blue Dog Dance has cemented its reputation as a premiere dance and performing arts studio in Washington. The glowing reviews from long-time students and parents speak volumes about the studio's impact. One parent, whose daughter has been dancing at the studio for over seven years, praises the variety of classes and performance opportunities, highlighting the "encouraging, positive learning environment." Another adult student, who joined a tap class with their daughter, notes how the instructors "kept it fun, challenging and empowering," proving that it's never too late to discover a love for dance. This feedback underscores the studio's commitment to creating a welcoming and rewarding experience for every member of its community.

What is worth choosing
For families in Washington, particularly in the Renton and surrounding areas, Blue Dog Dance stands out as a top choice for dance and performing arts education. The studio's long-standing reputation, built since 2008, is a testament to its quality and commitment to its students. What truly makes Blue Dog Dance worth choosing is its unique combination of professional instruction and a genuinely caring community. Unlike larger, more impersonal studios, Blue Dog Dance focuses on providing individual attention to each student. The inclusive and welcoming atmosphere is a huge draw, with the studio explicitly identifying as an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safe space, ensuring that everyone feels at home and respected.
The variety of offerings is another key factor. From structured classes in classical ballet to the high-energy fun of hip hop and acrobatic arts, children and adults alike have the opportunity to explore different styles and find their passion. The numerous performance opportunities, from in-studio showcases to community events and benefit galas, give students a chance to showcase their hard work and build confidence on and off the stage. This performance-based program is not just about technique; it's about building poise, teamwork, and determination. The studio's commitment to giving back to the community through events like the annual Gala for Seattle Children’s Hospital reinforces its role as a positive and impactful local business.
Finally, the consistent positive feedback from customers highlights the studio's most valuable asset: its dedicated staff. Parents and students consistently praise the teachers for their kindness, patience, and ability to make learning fun. This emotional connection is a powerful motivator, with one parent noting that their daughter feels like the studio is "home." For those seeking a dance studio that is not just a place to learn steps, but a place to grow as an artist and an individual within a supportive community, Blue Dog Dance is an exceptional choice. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My daughter has been dancing at Blue Dog Dance for the past 7.5 years (starting in Mommy and Me class!), and she absolutely loves and adores it. She loves that there are many different types of classes offered. She took classes in tap, acro, ballet, lyrical, jazz, and hip hop. She loves that there are many performing opportunities each season: 7 Fears of Julia Blue in the fall, Polar Express in the winter, and Wizard of Oz in the spring. If you join the Performance Group, you can also perform at local festivals, retirement homes, state fairs, and competitions. High school students put on an annual Gala to raise money for Seattle Children’s Hospital. And there is also an annual recital in June. You don’t have to do it all, but there are so many options! All the teachers we had through out the years had always been so kind and patient. It’s a very encouraging, positive learning environment.I want to give a special shout out to the teachers she has this year: Ms. Kyra, Ms. Kaela, Ms. Charlotte, Ms. Kalen, and Ms. Giana. And watching her perform has been so much fun, I joined Adult Tap dance class as well! My first teacher was Ms. Kaela, and now I have Ms. Barbara. They both made me fall in love with tap dancing, and even though my classes are at 8pm, I still come to class excited to learn and leave with a big smile. Thank you, Blue Dog Dance, for the most enjoyable dance experience! We love it there!
May 07 · Anastasia CormanLove love love Blue Dog!My children have been attending dance at Blue Dog forever, from elementary school to high school and then teaching . But this last year I’ve had the opportunity to join my daughter in an adult tap class. It was hard. But Kaela kept it fun, challenging and empowering. I am not a dancer and struggled so much but she worked her magic and Im pleased to say I’m looking forward to stepping on stage! Thanks Blue Dog for always keeping it real!
May 07 · Kristen RichterMs. Gretchen is AWESOME!!!! I love her sooooo much! She is so sweet and supportive. I want to have her as my teacher forever❤️ -Liliana
May 05 · Liliana JohnsonWe love Blue Dog Dance! Ms. Tori has been phenomenal with my daughter in the Creative Dance class. This class is one of my daughter's favorite part of the week and I attribute all of that to how fun and engaging Ms. Tori makes the class. Thank you for all that you do!
May 08 · Elior OdinakBlue Dog is such a great place for introducing your kids to dance. We love our current Hip Hop Teacher (Ms. Lauren) and really appreciate her patience and kindness when working with energetic kiddos. There is no pressure to get things "perfect" and she (and all the other teacher's we've had in the past) works through those tricky dance moves with kiddos when needed in a respectful and supportive way while still keeping it a fun and engaging environment!
