My daughter dance with this company for several years before we found a different place. I’d to share what we experienced while attending this studio for over 16+ hours a week over the course of 3 years with 2 students.When daughter hurt her foot, she was advised to wear a boot from ortho until day of show to rest her foot, she was yelled at for moving “too slowing” when marking in tech rehearsal even though the doctor instructed her to take it easy and walk slowly to rest before recital.Charging extra for adult costumes are normal bc it’s more expensive from vendors but I was charged $5 for all of the costumes when my dancer had many child XLs. When questioned, office manager said it’s not very much money. But my child was in over 13 dances so it adds up. Rule is rule right?Technique is lacking for older more advanced children. The classes are merged or canceled due to lower numbers. No real substitute teaching staff, when someone is out, the replacement is not well versed in the style of dance or not qualified to teach at that caliber. Maybe it’s different now.All kinds of food are allowed in the studio rooms for pre pro children bc they eat dinner in there. No regards to allergies as those are the same floors dancers roll on for contemporary, stretching or conditioning. My dancer rolled over cheese and crumbs weekly. One particular night, my dancer’s friend, had a medium allergic reaction to tree nut found on the floor. They did not have Benadryl on hand, so mom had to rush over to administer meds. This dancer also stayed home for a few days bc the allergic reaction was intense but no studio staff followed up after the incident.“Balanchine based conservatory ballet school” only has 1 1 hour technique class a week. Seems they have changed it to 1.5 hours for 2 days now. Rep and company class does not replace technique. In these classes, they are learning new choreo. Also pointe is normally offered right after technique, last year it was after lyrical, which is an elective. Only 1 1 hour pointe class a week for a 12 year old is not enough for a conservatory based dance school.No viewing the entire year at studio, handbook said once a quarter, but it’s since been removed. Spent entire year having only seen my dancer at paid events like the fox theater, Busch stadium, and ambush where tickets are pricy. Dancer enjoyed community outreach, when we first joined the studio, company members danced in front of nursing homes and local parades. Didn’t happen at all last year. Why can’t you see your kids dance in the studio?On website, it says, “Instructors hail from prominent companies such as Joffrey Ballet, ABT, SAB, Alabama Ballet, Big Muddy Dance Co, and Ballet 314”, but bio of teachers doesn’t have anyone who has danced at Joffrey Ballet, ABT, SAB or Alabama Ballet.

Normally I’m not the type of person to get bothered by something so small, but this one event really changed my perspective on Bridgeman Academy. We were all in class one day, rehearsing our company dance, my instructor (studio owner) starts yelling at us for not knowing the choreography, and goes on and on about how she’s posted many videos on the studio app. She claimed there were countless videos of the dance on spaces. Since none of the students wanted to get into more trouble, we don’t say anything. However, during our dinner break, we decided to look on spaces to see if we could find the videos. NOTHING. Minutes later, the instructor mysteriously posted a video of the choreography. NO apologies were made. Even when my mom raised the concern, SO/instructor said she would apologize but never did to us.At the beginning of this current dance year, I started taking classes at a different studio. At the new studio, the instructors actually care about the well being of their students. Whenever students have an injury, the instructors completely understand and ensure that their safety is put first. While at Bridgeman, an instructor, again same instructor/studio owner yelled at me because I was “moving to slow” on stage during the tech rehearsal. I was WEARING a boot and was INSTRUCTED by an ortho doctor to take it easy.Of course there are many other things I could talk about, but there really is no easy way to write them all down. If you take anything away from this review, just remember that Bridgeman prides themselves in being a professional and prestigious performing arts academy, but in reality, they are more of a conservative studio that puts down their students daily. Many tears were shed. I am glad I’m at a much happier and healthier place.

My daughter started attending Bridgeman Academy this year and has thoroughly enjoyed it! We previously attended another studio and it wasn’t a good fit for us, so we decided to take a break from dancing for a bit. With this change, we were looking for a studio that made our daughter comfortable but also was technically strong. We’ve found our dance home here. My daughter looks forward to class each week and loves her classmates and teachers.

Our eldest daughter has gone “all-in” at Bridgeman Academy. She is in the pre-professional program, and it’s no joke. Takes a lot of time, and requires a big commitment for us all as a family.However, we are moving into year three of this program for a reason. Not only has she developed great friends and grown into a more confident girl, but she has grown leaps and bounds as a dancer. She came into the studio with very little experience, and yet the studio has helped her grow more and more each year. It has been amazing to see, and they provide the infrastructure for them to grow leaps and bounds if you want.More than anything though, I am grateful for the studio’s Christ-centered emphasis. With as much time as my daughter spends there, the Bridgeman’s and the teachers will inevitably shape more than just our daughter’s skills as a dancer. Knowing that the studio desires to help these dancers become the best dancer that God made them to be should be a big encouragement to any parent, regardless of your beliefs.We have three other daughters involved at the studio too, and we plan to keep them all involved because of how positive our eldest daughter’s experience has been.If you want excellence married together with a positive, family, faith inspired environment, look no further!

Most of the teachers are excellent people who love kids and want the best for them.I could go on all day about our experience, however, less is more. I’ll leave out the messy details.My daughter began dancing at age 3 when the studio was “The Art of Dance and Classical Ballet.” She loved dance. Later, the studio was purchased by the Bridgemans. My daughter did well at first, but over time began crying and having panic attacks when I dropped her off each day. Any who has any knowledge of child development knows that is a major red flag.My daughter has since moved studios and loves dance again.
