★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1One of the premier American music schools; excellent performance halls; renowned faculty; good degree programs; Bloomington is a small town, nothing but IU, no big city distractions 👍
July 25 · John KimAttended there in the early 80's. So proud to see the school's continued stature and prestige. The newer facilities (the East building HQ, spectacular) and adding Simon Hall (it used to be the School of Education!) appear to have more than doubled the physical footprint. Back in our day, we had the same (1700-1800) enrollment, we were all mostly situated in just Merrill Hall and the Annex building! (The Annex was our grand central station). But yeah, OK we did have the monstrous MAC in the day, too (which doesn't get it's due, truly one of the grandest venues in the world of it's kind, the vast backstage operations and capabilities are even more awe-inspiring).
September 01 · Tom UtroskeWe moved to Bloomington from NYC and The MAC easily holds its own with the Metropolitan Opera in acoustics, decor, and architecture. It's so very affordable and convenient which is an added bonus. The performers and productions are absolutely professional as are the sets, lighting and orchestra. It's one of the gems of Bloomington!!I We buy both the Opera and Ballet Series as well as The Concert Series each season. This season that's thirteen performances at such an affordable price. Wouldn't miss it!!
July 27 · Bonita BavettaFor students:World-famous music department with some world-famous instructors. For community members:Music practice rooms that you can utilize even if you are not a student. Tons of recitals to enjoy if you just like hearing amazing free music!
May 07 · Kimberly DavisWe went to see Anderson Cooper, love that guy. First time for me at this location. Parking was easy, the venue size is perfect, our seats were comfortable with plenty of leg room, the moderators were interesting and appeared informed. It was a wonderful evening, I will certainly participate in future events. Thanks to IU for hosting.
