The instructors at this studio are excellent, the atmosphere is kind and supportive, and there is flexibility for each family to fit dance into their lives to the extent that they desire. Unfortunately, these qualities are not present in the financial policies.I was completely flabbergasted to still be charged full-price for the weeks that this studio was closed due to the "Stay Home, Save Lives" Governor's order. (I have received various refunds from sports fees, gyms, and ticketed events without ever having to ask). After speaking with the director Cindi, it appears that some families were charged 50% for the weeks that the studio was closed (those on monthly payment plans), some families were given a 50% studio credit (those who had pre-paid in full), and others like me (who pre-paid and withdrew dancers) are expected to pay FULL price. Basically, it is a forced donation so they can still pay their rent and salaries. Of course, I hate seeing small businesses struggle during the pandemic, and I would have been more than happy to make a donation if I had been asked. But being forced to pay for services not rendered is completely unacceptable. Everyone should have had 100% of the tuition refunded during the weeks that the studio was closed, no questions asked, and without needing to ask for it! This would have been the honorable course of action.I was unable to make any progress by presenting my case to the director, where I was rudely told that "Everyone else thinks it's fair; you're the only one who doesn't." The director reminded me of their theme Bible verse - Romans 6:13 - which states that one should not offer any part of themselves as an instrument of wickedness, rather of righteousness (paraphrase). I am unable, in good conscience, to continue supporting a studio that won't "put their money where their mouth is."  I recommend that anyone considering this studio think very carefully about the risk of doing business with someone who is untrustworthy with your hard-earned money. You'd just have to cross your fingers and hope that everything all works out because you will absolutely not be getting a refund under ANY circumstances, including with closed doors during an unprecedented global pandemic!Further, I also lost trust with this studio when the director decided to open the studio back up while the county was still under the Governor's order for dance studios to remain closed. She excused it by saying that some dancers had a "need" for in-person classes. I personally felt this demonstrated poor judgment in that she was willing to put children's health at potential risk prior to confirmation from the scientific and medical experts. Also, in my opinion, she was setting a shameful example to children by presenting it as optional whether we comply with orders from our present authority. Suffice it to say, my children will not be participating under this kind of "leadership" any longer. I am choosy about whose care I place them under. - S H
