MOVE! Dance Space & Arts Center Introduce
Located in the bustling community of Lakewood, Colorado, MOVE! Dance Space & Arts Center is a unique wellness destination that stands as a true community hub for movement artists and enthusiasts of all ages. This is not a competitive dance studio; rather, it is a space dedicated to providing a nurturing, non-judgmental, and expressive environment where everyone can explore their passion for movement. Founded and led by Artistic Director Alicia Karczewski, MOVE! is a co-op style business that supports various local dance organizations, creating a collaborative and affordable platform for artists to continue their work. For residents of Lakewood and the wider Denver metro area, it represents a place to not only learn a new skill but to also find a welcoming and supportive community that is a second home to many.
The philosophy of MOVE! is centered on the belief that movement is a powerful tool for personal expression and well-being. The studio offers a holistic, integrated movement arts experience that meets a wide range of personal intentions and artistic expressions. This is reflected in the diversity of classes and the caliber of the teachers, who are often professionals with extensive experience. As one happy customer review notes, "Each teacher I have had is excellent and provides a variety of styles." This commitment to bringing in a variety of great teachers and classes is a core strength of the center. Whether you are a beginner looking to take your first tap class or an experienced dancer seeking to refine your technique, you will find an instructor who is not only skilled but also deeply invested in your growth and confidence.
Beyond the traditional dance classes, MOVE! is a true arts center. It provides opportunities for students and professionals to perform, create, and present work in a supportive setting. The studio hosts in-house performances, including annual events like the Fall Festival and April Showcase, that allow students and guest artists to share their work with the community. This focus on performance and creation, rather than just technical training, makes it a dynamic and enriching environment. The center is also a hub for collaboration, working with other dance organizations to provide an expanded network of opportunities. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with many students feeling that they have found a "true community center" where they can thrive, as another review highlights.
