got dance? apparel and active gear Introduce
For performing artists and active families across the Dayton area and greater Ohio region, got dance? apparel and active gear
represents a unique local resource. This small business, centrally located in Dayton, is renowned primarily as a specialty dance store, providing essential apparel, active wear, and accessories for all ages and types of dance. The foundation of the business is built on a deep passion for dance, spearheaded by its founder, Teri Eckley, who is a certified retailer and fitter with training from major dance brands like Russian Pointe, Bloch, and Capezio.
While certain online directories, based on community contributions, also categorize the location as a "Hair salon," the overwhelming public and internal information suggests its core expertise and primary business function is within the dance retail space, specifically focusing on expert fittings for dance shoes, especially pointe shoes. Ohio customers consistently highlight the specialized care and specific attention to needs they receive during these fittings, noting a marked difference from standard retail experiences. This dual listing indicates that while some hair services, such as simple children's cuts often required for performance prep, may be available, the center’s reputation and specialty lie firmly in serving the dance community.
The welcoming and knowledgeable approach is a significant draw, aimed at ensuring dancers feel comfortable, confident, and excited about their gear. However, as is common with small, highly specialized businesses, customer experiences can be polar opposite. While many patrons praise the fantastic, specific care, others have reported instances of difficult or unprofessional customer service, particularly concerning communication about product pricing and fitting policies. Prospective customers should be aware of the detailed fitting policy, which may include a fee if shoes are fitted but not purchased, and approach the business with clear expectations.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Very sarcastic elderly lady waited on us. Refused to tell us the price of a shoe then refused to fit my daughter in another type shoe that didn’t hurt her foot! Said it was very expensive! Underestimated who she was waiting on! A 22 year experienced dancer! Said to us she doesn’t fit shoes unless we’re buying them! She refused to fit my daughter in another shoe! Lost a big sale! We put everything back! Shame on this elderly lady! She insulted our whole family. Terrible customer service ! Would never go back!
September 27 · Lori MortonWonderful experience! We visited in order to have my daughter re-fitted for pointe shoes. Wow! What a different experience we had compared to other shops. Terri was fantastic! She took such great care of my daughter and was so specific to her needs. She studied her bare foot, her dead pointe shoes, talked with her about her current dancing needs/struggles, tried various shoes until the perfect one emerged. We will definitely be back! This is a wonderful shop. This will for sure be our new go to for dance shoes!!
February 13 · Tara LydyAdded to original review: The photo is the owner helping my daughter with her 3rd pair of pointe shoes. We just bought my daughter her latest replacement pair of pointe shoes. Terry thoroughly checked the fit, had her try multiple, slightly different pairs to get the perfect shoe. She shows amazing care and thoughtfulness to every customer, every time, to make sure your dancer has the shoes that are best for her!Original review:The owner/manager is very knowledgeable and caring. While we waited our turn, we watched her fit a teen in her first pair of point shoes with great care. She gave the mom and her daughter all kinds of helpful hints. Then when it was our turn, she helped my daughter with the same amount of care and consideration - and we were only buying paws.Everything is kind of pricey but isn't that true of all dance items everywhere? Sure you might find a better price at Amazon but it won't come with the same service, nor the guarantee or quality.Great experience and we've shopped there again and will again in the future. I definitely recommend to all dancers and their families!
November 24 · Mindy SPressed for time today and behind schedule to purchase performance shoes for my daughter's upcoming show. We came at the right time & there was no wait, the owner was wonderful; gave us lots of good information, helped us quickly choose the right shoes & was very thorough in making sure they fit properly. Very grateful she chose to stay open on a holiday weekend, will definitely go back :)
July 02 · jeniferlynn kFantastic service, very knowledgeable. Got my youngest daughter's 1st pair of pointe shoes and they really took time to explain everything and even got some neat history on pointe shoes. Took my oldest daughter in for some jazz shoes and got the same quality service. Will be heading there this weekend for a pointe shoe refit and soon for my oldest daughter to get fitted for her 1st pair of pointes. This is now our go to for all our dance needs.
