★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I would love to share our experience for our daughter and son at the BBSI. It was by no means an easy thing to dedicate two weeks to the commute and commitment of the BBSI in NC. But to say it was worth it is an understatement! It seemed that we auditioned and registered so far in advance and didn’t know much about it and that it was just a fun thing to look forward to. But it was huge for my son’s training. I feel so excited for him that he experienced improvement and all of the motivation that comes along with dancing beside other guys and learning under world class instructors. My daughter got to experience the dignity and self confidence that comes with learning a discipline like partnering in ballet. What an eye opening week for her for what she is working toward with all of her effort and dedication. I strongly believe that children and teens learn best when there is attachment and relationships. I believe this was a safe place for them to form bonds with the faculty and I believe my kids’ admiration and respect for the adults in charge of them facilitated an abundance of learning in the two weeks.
August 12 · Jody HauptAfter attending the BBSI two-week program in 2024, we knew this is a special place that we would want to experience again. My 15-year old son just finished his second two-week SI and expressed his love for this incredible program. They provided a full week of training with highly qualified and professional staff that are dedicated to supporting every dancer. From the moment you walk in the door, there is a warm, welcoming feeling that is indescribable. If you are looking for a safe environment for your dancer, this is the place. They make it clear that no bullying or exclusion will be tolerated. It is a safe space for dancers to develop their skills. At the end of each week, parents are invited to observe the progress made. I was pleased with every aspect of this program. Outside of the studio, there was an effort to get the dancers together to socialize and to make connections. My son made so many friends and loved how everybody uplifts one another. I cannot say enough about this program. It is one of the best experiences we have had along my son’s journey.
August 10 · Trisha KirkbrideMy 5 star review won’t do this program justice. There is really no other program like it in the country and probably the world. BBSI is a nurturing and very high quality ballet summer intensive. The teachers are of the highest caliber, who offer opportunities to audition for future summer intensives and year-round training at their home ballet academies. The program’s zero-bullying policy makes it a safe place for all genders and all ages (within the program’s age range). My son has felt that this is one of the most important summer intensives for him to attend and to continue attending whenever possible.
August 09 · Lindsey AAs soon as we left (and I had to drag my son out of there) he said “I can’t wait to come back next year.” Hands down best ballet intensive for boys. He met instructors and students from all over. I’ve seen massive improvement in his dancing and he’s leaving with new skills and confidence along with friends he’ll keep for life. It’s a safe space for all dancers and families. The staff is professional and puts on a well organized program. It has far exceeded any expectations I had going into it.
August 10 · Randee ShubinThe Boys Ballet Summer Intensive is a fantastic program with highly skilled instructors who really know how to train boys. My son especially loved the partnering, variations, and technique classes. The facilities at the Segerstrom Center were excellent and located in a beautiful area. Everyone was welcoming and supportive. My son had a great experience and would absolutely love to return!
