Children's Dance Theater-Federal Way location Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Negative experience, lack of professionalism and respect toward students. Some instructors and leaders appear to have little patience for younger kids (general observation). Of course, some staff are great, specifically the music instructor Ms. K. Review is relevant to the Federal Way (2-week theater camp Moana) and Auburn (1-week of summer camp). The theater director of one of the summer productions had children that participated in the program. The director (an adult) decided to shared how she ‘doesn’t like…” my 9 year old with her family and the children (innocently) shared that with my child. INCREDIBLY unprofessional, unkind and likely biased. When I contacted the organization, they acknowledged the incident occurred but failed to refund the remaining days of camp. Why would I want my child to attend an organization with leadership like this? They also failed to provide an apology for the situation. My child had no reported behavior issues. Completely unacceptable. I’ve seen that the organization is inclusive of gender identity and orientation of participants. I cannot report a great deal of ethnic diversity. This statement was made targeting an ethnic participant. I can’t say we felt warmly welcomed but this situation, and the response, confirmed it. Regardless of the motivation behind the directors statements her behavior is shameful.
August 11 · chanel037All the instructors are so wonderful here and at the Auburn location! We love their summer camps too!The end of year recital is so well done!My son absolutely loves the art class here. They use different techniques and various mediums with themed art projects.
November 20 · Angela OcheltreeI had high hopes when we joined this studio, but I was deeply disappointed by the experience—especially with the studio director. I found them dismissive and unhelpful when I tried to address concerns about my daughter’s experience. What made it worse was that the supporting staff seemed either unable or unwilling to assist. There was a lack of communication, professionalism, and basic courtesy that made us feel unheard and unwelcome. I expected a more supportive and child-focused environment, and unfortunately, this studio did not deliver.
May 31 · Thomas SolomonSadly, the only thing this studio choreographed well this season was disappointment. From the top of the year to curtain call, communication was unclear, unhelpful, and honestly... missing in action. I wouldn’t recommend this studio unless you enjoy your kid feeling like they're dancing blindfolded into a fog machine.
June 12 · Ken SmithMy daughter started at the Auburn location of CDT when she was 3, and we love the body-positive, age-appropriate focus of the studio. She has lost interest in dance and gone away for other activities twice now, but she keeps coming back and has never been interested in trying another studio (she now takes classes at this location in FW). We just had the opportunity to participate in another fantastic Nutcracker performance, and my daughter had such a wonderful experience.
