I've seen the Full Circle Dance Company , based out of Baltimore, MD, several times. The November 15, 2019, REFUGE home performance was exquisitely beautiful and moving, from the first dance through the last. The company's dancers are soleful, joyful, hilarious, poignant and anguished, perfectly interpreting and flowing with each dance. The dancers' creativity, professionalism in choreographing their own dances, and their emotional intensity and commitment to their art of dancing make it a priviledge to watch them perform. I was so impressed with this dance company that I contacted the Kennedy Center to see about the possibility of bringing the Full Circle Dance Company to its Reach or Millennium Stage venues. I think this Company would give an amazing performance at the Kennedy Center if given the opportunity.Unfortunately, the pandemic has prevented this wonderful dance company from performing in 2020, so we shall have to see if 2021 will be the year! I look forward to seeing them again in 2021. I cannot recommend the Full Circle Dance Company enough. Thanks so much for your kind attention, Agnes Yackshaw - Agnes Yackshaw

Full Circle Dance Company Introduce

In the vibrant artistic landscape of Baltimore, certain names resonate with a powerful and enduring message. Full Circle Dance Company is one such name, a professional dance ensemble that goes beyond mere entertainment to create art with purpose and meaning. As a proud Black-owned and women-owned business, Full Circle has been a beacon of creativity and social commentary since its founding in 2000. The company is celebrated for its commitment to exploring complex real-world issues through the powerful medium of movement. From deeply emotional narratives to pieces that challenge and provoke thought, every performance is a testament to the company's dedication to its craft and its community.

This is not a traditional dance school, but rather a professional performance company. The ensemble is composed of a diverse group of highly-trained dancers who bring a wealth of experience and artistry to their work. Their performances are known for being emotionally charged, technically excellent, and artistically profound. Audiences consistently describe their shows as "exquisitely beautiful and moving," highlighting the dancers' ability to convey a range of human experiences—from joy and humor to poignancy and anguish—with perfect interpretation. The company’s unique approach involves selecting a specific social justice theme to explore deeply each year, commissioning diverse choreographers to create works that reflect multiple perspectives on the issue. This signature method results in thematically united but stylistically varied shows that encourage audiences to engage with difficult topics in new and insightful ways.

Full Circle Dance Company's reputation extends far beyond the Baltimore city limits. While they are a beloved local institution, they have also performed at prestigious venues throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia, as well as in other states across the country. Their work has been recognized and praised by local and national publications, with their performances often described as "honest, gut-wrenching work" by critics. The company is a testament to the idea that dance can be more than just an aesthetic experience; it can be a tool for dialogue, understanding, and social change.
