Rainey Institute Introduce
For more than a century, the Rainey Institute has been a cornerstone of the Cleveland community, dedicated to fostering positive change for Greater Cleveland's youth and families through the power of the visual and performing arts. While its origins trace back to 1904 as a settlement house providing social services, its mission has evolved to become a leading arts organization, enriching lives through excellent and accessible programming. This deep-rooted history in the Hough neighborhood has given Rainey Institute a unique understanding of the community it serves, allowing it to adapt and grow to meet the ever-changing needs of local families. It's a place where children can not only discover and develop their artistic talents but also build character, gain self-confidence, and learn to be leaders.
Rainey Institute is not just a summer camp organizer; it is a year-round hub for creativity, education, and personal development. The organization prides itself on its commitment to the arts as a vehicle for social and emotional learning, offering a wide array of programs that go beyond technical skill to cultivate critical thinking, teamwork, and self-expression. By providing a safe and nurturing environment, Rainey Institute encourages children to explore a variety of art forms, from traditional visual arts to digital music production, and to find their own unique voice. Their dedication to ensuring that no child is turned away due to an inability to pay, thanks to the generosity of donors, makes high-quality arts education accessible to a broad community of learners.
The main campus of the Rainey Institute is located at 1705 E 55th St, Cleveland, OH 44103, USA. This central location in the Hough neighborhood makes it easily accessible for families throughout the Cleveland area. The organization has also opened a second location at the Pivot Center for Art, Dance, and Expression in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood, expanding its reach to more Cleveland youth and families. Rainey Institute is committed to providing a welcoming and accessible environment for all. Their facility includes a wheelchair-accessible car park and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, which helps to ensure that everyone can participate in their programs without facing physical barriers. The convenience of a free parking lot also removes a common logistical concern for parents, allowing for stress-free drop-offs and pickups.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If your child is anything but neurotypical, do not send your child here. They left my child in an open doorway with no one immediately supervising or standing with her while she waited for me to pick her up after removing her from the program. There was 0 attempt to try to understand or help my child and verbally told her she was not allowed back in their program or in their building. She is only 8.
June 12 · Ashley ByrgeMy child went fir thr camp this year , I must day alone had a blast. She tells me about how great of a day she had. Keeps her thriving
July 02 · Cam KamWe love Rainey! My kids have been going there for after care for going on 5 years and the program has improved every year. Most after care programs are basically daycare, not at Rainey! The older kids choose their program and are learning an art during their time there. The teachers are all helpful and kind. I'm so impressed with what my kids create while at Rainey. They look forward to going there after school and we're so grateful for an affordable,.high quality program!
August 08 · Sandra MillardMy 8 year old daughter is being bullied and threatened by a girl who’s 4 years older by the name of Qamara and Rainey is not taking it seriously. The girl was suspended for a week for doing lots of reasons and came back doing the same thing. She was also assaulted by a 14 year old boy named Elijah. My daughter is taught not to argue or fight. Why isn’t Rainey doing anything about this? I’ve talked to Deven the dance instructor and Brandon the director…but nothing. This has been going on for MONTHS now! So, I filed a police report and I’m looking into filing charges against Rainey for child endangerment and such. CHILDREN’S well being should be your FIRST priority! NOT MONEY!!
March 13 · Kay DavisI absolutely love this place and so does my daughter! Safety is ensured, my daughter is assisted and entertained in a healthy way. Most places just babysit, but Rainey is an example of that part of the village that contributes in growing your child to be open minded and well rounded. My sister has also been apart of Rainey for 5+ years and we’ve had no complaints since she was a younger child.
