What is worth choosing
Choosing a dance school for yourself or your child is an important decision, and Raleigh Scottish Dance offers a compelling set of reasons why it stands out in the North Carolina dance community. The primary and most significant factor is its unique specialization. While many studios offer ballet or tap, Raleigh Scottish Dance provides a singular opportunity to learn Highland dance, a culturally rich and physically dynamic art form that is rare to find. This specialization means that students receive focused, high-quality instruction from teachers who are passionate experts in their field. The head teacher, Erin, is a testament to this, bringing a championship background and a genuine love for teaching that translates into a positive and effective learning experience. Her ability to be both a knowledgeable expert and a warm, kind mentor is a combination that has been repeatedly highlighted by families as a reason for their continued loyalty. She is able to push students to achieve their best while ensuring they remain motivated and enthusiastic, which is a delicate balance to strike, especially with younger dancers.
Furthermore, the studio's commitment to creating a nurturing and supportive environment is a powerful reason to choose them. The reviews consistently mention the "wonderful attitude of positivity" and the "love for the art of dance." This culture of encouragement makes the studio a safe and welcoming space for students to take risks, make mistakes, and grow as dancers and individuals. The positive atmosphere is particularly crucial for a challenging dance style like Highland, which requires significant effort and discipline. Knowing that your child is in an environment where their effort and commitment are valued above all else can make all the difference in their long-term engagement. The inclusivity of the facility, with its wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking, also makes it an excellent choice for the broader community, ensuring that dance is a possibility for everyone. The wide range of classes, from basic and creative dance for beginners to specialized private sessions, means that the studio can accommodate a dancer's journey from their very first steps to advanced practice. For anyone in the Raleigh area looking for more than just a dance class—a place to learn, grow, and become part of a supportive community—Raleigh Scottish Dance is an excellent, and perhaps even unparalleled, option.

June 24 · Matt SealyErin is a wonderful person and a great teacher. My daughter has been taking class with her for several years. As a former champion, she really knows her stuff. She is clear with her feedback and expects effort and commitment from her dancers. She could be a little tougher sometimes! But unlike some Scottish dance teachers, Erin is very warm and kind. This goes a long way; it has kept my daughter motivated to keep dancing, even when many other girls have quit. (Highland Dance is physically arduous, but very cool to watch. And to do!)Highland Dance is a wonderful, unique performance art. It is great that Raleigh now has its own school. Come check it out. Big thumbs up!
