Dance Etc. Dance Boutique Introduce
For dancers across the Triangle region of North Carolina, finding the right gear isn't just about fashion; it's about performance, comfort, and safety. The right pair of shoes or the perfect leotard can make all the difference in a dancer's journey. Dance Etc. Dance Boutique in Raleigh is a local gem dedicated to meeting these specialized needs. As a small, women-owned business, it offers a level of expertise and personal service that you simply won't find in a large, impersonal chain store. This boutique is more than a place to shop; it's a resource for dancers of all ages and a true part of the North Carolina dance community.
The store's primary focus is on providing high-quality dancewear, and it is particularly renowned for its professional pointe shoe fittings. The process of fitting a dancer for pointe shoes is a precise art that requires deep knowledge of foot anatomy and dance technique. A proper fit is crucial for a dancer's safety and success. While some customers have had negative experiences, expressing frustration with what they felt was rude behavior during fittings and scheduling, other patrons rave about their experience. One customer stated, "We loved our experience with Danea! She did an excellent job fitting my daughter for her pointe shoes. They also have a wide variety of shoes, leotards, tights, skirts, and anything else you might need." This highlights the dichotomy of customer experiences. It's a place that seems to be a perfect fit for some, and a frustrating one for others, particularly those with "challenging feet" or who prefer a more conversational approach with the fitter.
The business identifies itself as an LGBTQ+ friendly and Transgender safe space, which is a significant feature in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for a diverse clientele. This commitment to inclusivity is a core value for many small businesses in North Carolina, and it speaks to their dedication to serving a broad range of customers with respect and dignity. For families and dancers seeking a store that aligns with these values, Dance Etc. Dance Boutique presents itself as a place where they can feel comfortable and accepted.

June 15 · Alison SorrellVery rude. Won't speak to parents at all during pointe shoe fittings. I understand teaching young dancers to advocate and speak for themselves, but this rude behavior is not the way to do it. The shoe fitter insisted she knew the shoe was "the shoe". Once she brought the shoes to the studio and tried them, they completely were not a good fit for her. Dance teachers said it fit poorly. A waste of time and money.Later, I decided to give them a second chance. I scheduled an online fitting. I gave details of my dancers challenging feet. They called and cancelled the online appointment with a lie that there was a scheduling conflict. How can that be when the online scheduler list the open slots? When I asked to reschedule for an available time, they rudely said there are "NO" appointments for her. I guess they didn't want to help find a fit for my dancer. They lost our business.Several dancers from our studio have gone there and had the same negative, rude experience.Unless you enjoy being treated that way, I suggest you avoid this store.
August 11 · Karin EI recently brought 12 of my students for a group pointe shoe fitting. They created such a personal and engaging experience for each of my Dancers and helped us make some wonderful memories. Fittings were thorough and executed perfectly. I will recommend Dance Etc. to all of my students. Excellent experience!
August 12 · Monica DriscollWe had an amazing fitting for our first time fitting. My daughter was nervous, but we were talked thru everything, explanations were provided and instructions as to how and why….made my 13 year old feel seen and understood. Dance etc. had everything in stock that we would need and were genuinely excited for my daughter to start her pointe journey. Will be back and will recommend to others! Wish they had a second location on the southern side of Raleigh to be closer, but still worth the drive.
August 05 · Jennifer StricklandWhile the owner is really good with making sure your child’s dance shoes fit them the way they need to, her customer service skills are not good. Both times I shopped there I felt like she was very standoffish. The second time I was there to get pointe shoes for my daughter and spent a few hundred dollars. I feel that she should treat her customers a little better and because of her treatment, I will not be coming back to this store to buy anything for my dancer. I would rather drive an hour or more to get what my child needs than to visit this store again. It is a shame because my child is only 11 and we have many years to go, but I refuse to shop at a place that lacks in customer service.
