Big East Gymnastics has a notable history in the Massachusetts area, having served the community for decades, with some families recalling attending the center since the late 1990s. This longevity suggests a strong local presence and a history of providing beneficial services. The fundamental philosophy of the organization is centered on providing a fun, safe, and positive learning environment where children can be introduced to the discipline of gymnastics.
While the reviews from the local community present a mixed perspective on the environment, particularly concerning communication and instructional approaches—with some praising the patient, friendly, and knowledgeable staff like "Miss Jillian," and others expressing concerns about attitude and organization—the core service remains a comprehensive program for recreational gymnastics. For parents in Massachusetts seeking an activity that is "Good for kids" to help them develop balance, coordination, strength, and confidence, Big East Gymnastics Inc offers a variety of entry points.

Big East Gymnastics Inc focuses its services almost entirely on gymnastics instruction, offering a detailed and progressive curriculum designed to fit various age groups and skill levels. The programs available to Massachusetts residents range from introductory exploration to advanced skill-building. The following list outlines the typical program structure:
- Parent & Tot Classes (Ages Walking to 3): Introductory classes emphasizing coordination, fine motor skills, and balance through fun activities, games, and basic tumbling, with active parental participation.
- Preschool Programs (Ages 3-5, independent): Classes designed for children who are potty-trained, focusing on developing gross motor skills, listening abilities, and initial gymnastics terminology across the main apparatuses (bars, beam, floor, and vault).
- Grade School Gymnastics (Ages 6+): Structured recreational classes, often divided by age and skill (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced), which work on progressions, connections of skills, and improving form on all four Olympic events.
- Tumbling Classes: Specialized sessions dedicated solely to floor-based acrobatic skills, catering to children interested in cheerleading or those who wish to focus on back handsprings, round-offs, walkovers, and tucks.
- Ninja Zone: A popular alternative program that blends military-style obstacle course training with gymnastics tumbling to develop strength, speed, and agility, typically offered for a wide range of youth ages.
- Developmental / Invitation Programs: Instructor-invite-only classes for children showing exceptional aptitude, required to advance skills and challenge them with more complex techniques and higher expectations.
- Flexible Enrollment: The Academy has shifted to a monthly enrollment model, allowing families to avoid long-term commitments while maintaining a consistent spot in class, requiring only a 7-day notice to unenroll.
- Convenient Payment Options: Acceptance of Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and NFC mobile payments, providing simple, modern transaction methods for tuition.
The Big East Gymnastics center provides several features that are attractive to Massachusetts families looking for a specialized sports environment:
- Specialization in Gymnastics: As a dedicated gymnastics center, the facility can focus all its resources and equipment on providing a full and appropriate setup for the sport, including specialized mats, beams, bars, vaulting apparatus, tumble tracks, and safety pits.
- Long-Standing Community Presence: The gym's long operational history in Plymouth, dating back to at least the late 1990s, suggests a depth of experience in youth instruction within the South Shore community.
- Wide Age Range of Programs: The curriculum extends from "Teeny Tots" (walking age) up through Grade School classes, ensuring that the gym can be a continuous part of a child's development for many years.
- Diverse Skill Development: Beyond physical skills, the programs are designed to instill life lessons like social skills, sharing, listening, confidence, and self-discipline, which are universally beneficial for children.
- Flexible Enrollment Terms: The move to a month-to-month enrollment with a simple cancellation policy is a significant benefit for modern families who value flexibility over rigid, long-term contracts.

The Academy emphasizes that prospective students can enroll at any time via their online parent portal or by contacting the office. For parents in the Massachusetts South Shore area, Big East Gymnastics Inc is worth choosing primarily because of its specialized, comprehensive, and flexible recreational program offerings. The evidence shows that the center successfully fosters a love for the sport in young children, with programs that are "age appropriate and taught in such a way that is fun," as noted by a long-time customer. The deep curriculum, covering everything from basic motor skills for toddlers to advanced tumbling techniques, ensures that the gym can meet the needs of a child at every stage of their physical development.
The shift to monthly enrollment is a major selling point in a market often dominated by long-term commitments, providing financial and scheduling flexibility that is appealing to the busy Massachusetts family. While the center faces mixed customer sentiment regarding instructor attitude and administrative communication, the long-standing positive experiences—where children genuinely love attending and see tangible skill improvement—suggest that the core product, the gymnastics instruction itself, is robust and effective for many participants. Ultimately, Big East Gymnastics offers a highly specialized, accessible, and structured environment where children can gain confidence, physical strength, and enjoy a rewarding athletic pursuit.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1These people have no business working with children. They don’t like children. They have nasty attitudes and expect way too much from the kids when they don’t even have the ability to do most of this stuff themselves. It’s pretty tough to learn these skills when someone is just describing it to you. They don’t do competition so I’m unsure where the nasty attitude or the pressure to be perfect comes from. This is recreational gymnastics. The office is never open. They don’t communicate with parents at all. They split classes between two levels and have two teachers but they both “teach” the same stuff to both groups. Or they both sit on the floor and talk and tell the kids it’s free time… Kids that need help and want to learn. On top of that, 1 of the 2 teachers will leave the whole class 15 minutes early to be in the office doing catch up work or hanging posters about how payments are due for next session. Or shutting the place down so she can get out of there the second it’s over.
October 27 · Mk1843My family has been going to Big East Gymnastics since the late 90s. Back when they were located at cordage park. My sister went for years and now my daughter had been going to the weekly classes at Big East Gymnastics since she was two (she is four now) and she loves it.The instructors are patient, friendly and knowledgeable. We love Miss Jillian! The skills taught in the classes are age appropriate and taught in such a way that is fun.And for as long as my daughter enjoys herself here then she will be attending.BIG EAST GYMNASTICS ROCKS!
July 12 · Taylor MyersBig East Gymnastics is an excellent asset to the Plymouth community! The staff are professional, skilled and work very well with children of all ages. They work hard to accommodate different classes in popular time slots. In addition, they add a personal touch to the end of every class with stamps for the kids. At the end of the season, the children perform a song to display their gymnastics talent. We are very pleased with both our son & daughter's gymnastics experience at Big East and look forward to continuing this fall.
September 01 · Jennifer AdamsRecently visited the facility to learn about their programs and see the facility ourselves. Spoke with who i presumed was the owner (as she kept saying she had to update the website pricing). We inquired about drop-in classes and how they work since getting a 3yr old to commit to 8 weeks of anything can sometimes be challenging. We were told to participate in drop-in to call the day of class & that this class rarely fills up, there typically is always space, if there is space you are welcome to come. Called / Messaged them today to see if they had room tonight and were told class is full and they don't offer drop-in's. I told them we spoke with someone last week and were told drop-in's are a thing and price would vary as they didn't update the website yet. That is not the case and whoever I spoke with clearly has no idea how the business is run, they only do a trial class... They do not update their website and it is also clearly not accurate. Based on this small experience with them I would not recommend.
