A Fairytale Ballet Introduce
Hello, Chicago families! If you are looking for a unique and enchanting introduction to the world of dance for your child, A Fairytale Ballet in the Wicker Park neighborhood is a perfect destination. This isn't just a dance school; it's a magical journey where classic ballet meets imaginative storytelling. A Fairytale Ballet is a women-owned business that has created a nurturing and inspiring environment specifically tailored to young children, from toddlers to early-school-age kids. Their approach blends classical ballet technique with beloved fairy tales and stories, making every class an adventure. This guide will take you through the magical offerings of this special studio, a true asset to the Chicago community.
The philosophy at A Fairytale Ballet is simple yet profound: to make dance accessible and fun for the youngest learners. They understand that a child's first experiences with dance can shape their lifelong relationship with the art form. By incorporating whimsical elements like story time and creative movement based on well-known characters and narratives, the studio captivates children’s imaginations while subtly teaching them foundational skills. This method is incredibly effective, as one parent noted in a review, mentioning how the instructor "did a good job of mixing in some dance with fun Rapunzel story time." The result is a class where kids are so engaged and having so much fun that they don’t even realize they are learning and practicing discipline.
The success of this approach is clearly reflected in the heartfelt testimonials from local families. One parent shared that their 3-year-old, who had never taken a dance class before, "loved it here" and was so excited that she asked, "Daddy when can we go to ballet again?" This is the kind of reaction that every parent hopes for. Another family spoke about their daughter's deep affection for her "ballet friends and teacher," highlighting the strong, positive relationships the studio helps build. They praised the instructor's patience and positive "redirection," which is essential for working with young children. This focus on kindness, encouragement, and understanding is what truly sets A Fairytale Ballet apart from other studios.
A Fairytale Ballet also offers a variety of programs to accommodate different ages and skill levels, ensuring a seamless progression for students as they grow. The curriculum is designed to evolve with the students, introducing more complex techniques like pointe and repertory ballet as they get older. For the very youngest dancers, there are special programs like "Tap & pre-ballet" and "Toddler Class," making it easy for parents to find the perfect starting point. The studio's commitment to inclusivity is further demonstrated through its "Adaptive dance" program, which provides dance instruction for students with diverse movement abilities. This feature ensures that the magic of dance is accessible to everyone in the community.
This women-owned business is more than just a place for classes; it is a supportive community hub where children can build confidence, make friends, and discover their inner artist. With its enchanting environment, dedicated staff, and family-friendly approach, A Fairytale Ballet provides a truly special experience for children in Chicago. It’s a place where every child is a star, and every class is a new chapter in their magical dance story.

A Fairytale Ballet Reviews
I took my 3 year old daughter here for one of the mini camps (2-3yr old camp). My daughter had never been to any type of dance class and loved it here. The instructor, Megan, was great with the kids. She did a good job of mixing in some dance with fun Rapunzel story time. You know it's a good time when we get home and my daughter asks "Daddy when can we go to ballet again?"
July 16 · Dee OsborneMy daughter has attended Fairytale Ballet for about a year or so now. She missed the winter session and was not happy about that at all. Teacher Liz is great with the 3-5 year Olds. Her redirection is awesome with them or just letting them have the time that they need to get use to class and following directions. My daughter tells everyone about ballet and how she loves her ballet friends and teacher. I highly recommend Fairytale Ballet in Wicker park.
September 19 · Kei WesWe have been sending our daughter here for a couple of years now. She absolutely loves the ballet classes. Each week is a different theme and they dress up.Because of our schedule we tried to send her to a different ballet studio but she did not like it and she wanted to come back to a fairytale ballet. The teachers are great!!!
September 17 · Joe and Eliana AmaraI’ve been taking my daughter here for ballet and tap classes for a couple years now and we also do the summer camps. She loves going each week and always wants to do more and more camps. All the instructors have been great and they are very accommodating with makeups. There are new themes each week which makes it fun and we always love coming into the studio for watch week. The performance in the spring was a lot of fun to watch and prepare for.
October 27 · Julie CastelliSo this place is a bit confusing because it from the outside it is hard to tell if it is still in business or not. When classes are not in session, it's locked and the lights are off. There's no receptionist or anything or anyone on site, as once I tried to drop in to see about summer camp. So I read some reviews and signed up for camp online, and honestly just kind of showed up the first day to see what happened. Someone came and unlocked the door at the appointed time, and other little girls showed up, and for ten minutes there was a flurry of activity and then from the outside all appeared quiet again as the dancers went back into the studio. The studio is lovely and the instructors have all been so kind and patient to my 3-year-old. She loved the Disney- themed summer camp sessions that also included crafts and costumes, and she just started taking a fall class with Ballerina Catie and she adores her. The class starts with a warm-up/stretches, then they at some point read a book that serves as the theme of the day, and props and costumes go along with it. Today was Little Red Riding Hood. I can't speak for the upper classes or how "ballet" it all is but i can tell you my kiddo is working on her coordination and having a ball doing it.
