Ballet Conservatory Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For decades, the Ballet Conservatory has stood as a beacon of artistic excellence and character development in Lewisville, Texas. Founded in 1991 by Mrs. Kelly Kilburn-Lannin and her business partner Mary Neel, this is far more than just a dance studio; it is a dedicated institution that nurtures talent and helps shape the lives of its students. The school's philosophy is rooted in providing a fun, yet disciplined and creative environment where every dancer is made to feel like an investment. As one parent who moved from out of state with four children noted, the studio was "very welcoming" and the children were made to feel "that they are seen and part of something." This commitment to individual attention, even for newcomers, is a testament to the school’s core values. The curriculum, based on the teaching of Marcia Dale Weary, is designed to develop technically strong and expressive dancers who can adapt to any style. The professional and experienced instructors, many of whom have danced with professional companies, not only teach technique but also instill vital life lessons, including "respect of self and others." The studio is also the home of the renowned LakeCities Ballet Theatre, a non-profit ballet company that provides serious dancers with a performing outlet and the opportunity to hone their craft in a professional setting. The combination of rigorous training, a caring staff, and a supportive community makes Ballet Conservatory a truly special place for dancers of all ages and aspirations in the Lewisville and Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The dedication of the school's faculty is frequently highlighted in reviews from students and parents. The Artistic Director, Mrs. Kelly Lannin, is celebrated as an "excellent role model" who hires teachers who are equally dedicated and professional. This focus on character and professional integrity has a lasting impact on students, as one parent of an alumna shared that the proper technique learned "carried her far in life" and that the experience was "life changing." The studio's track record of success is a strong indicator of its quality, with many students going on to earn top scholarships at universities and dance professionally with prestigious companies. This is a testament to the comprehensive training and personalized coaching that every student receives. The Ballet Conservatory is a place where every step is a part of a larger journey, a journey that prepares dancers for both a career in the arts and a life filled with discipline, confidence, and priceless memories.

The pre-professional program and its focus on classical ballet technique provide a foundation that has helped students earn top scholarships and go on to dance professionally. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Ballet Conservatory was very welcoming to my 4 dancers male and female ages 12-20 when we moved here from out of state to their school. What drew us to this dance conservatory was the variety of classes, experienced instructors and their attention to technique. From the Artistic Director, Mrs. Kelly Lannin to the front desk with Becky, all of the children are made to feel as investments. That they are seen and part of something fun, yet disciplined and creative.Dancers learn respect of self and others as well and that carries on in their lives outside of dance. My college age child achieved her dance goals of not just being accepted on auditions at universities, but also earn top scholarships. This in part from the instructors helping her polish her dance solo and investing in her even as a “new girl”.We highly recommend giving this studio a try!
February 28 · Cher AmbOur daughter studied at Ballet Conservatory for 8 years and it was an absolutely wonderful and life changing experience for her. The director, Kelly Lannin, is an excellent role model and she hires teachers/staff who are excellent as well. Our whole family loved the experience and the life lessons it taught our daughter. We moved to another state and could never find a place as special as this dance studio. Our daughter learned proper technique and it carried her far in life. Ballet Conservatory and its associated company, Lake Cities Ballet Theatre, gave our daughter fabulous training as well as priceless memories for our entire family. This studio and dance company will always have a special place in our hearts.
January 11 · Gina MillerThis is a most excellent dance school especially for ballet. Emphasis on fundamentals is from the very beginning. I am very pleased with the respect that they have for ballet as an art form and discipline for students of dance.
January 17 · R HubbardI took my 3 yr. old to Ballet Conservatory because we were new to the area and she needed some socialization. We started in the summer. She loved her 1st dance class and her teacher, Mrs. W., who was wonderful with the littles. I enrolled her in the fall and she continued taking dance there until she graduated high school! She took various different types of dance through out the years, but ballet ended up being her favorite type of dance. She had many very good teachers through out her years at BC. As a parent, I was delighted to find an activity my daughter enjoyed and she made some life long friends along the way. I was really impressed with the level of instruction and how fun the teachers made dance (the recitals are amazing—-especially the advanced levels!). My little girl learned, not only dance steps at BC, but a lot of other life lessons that helped her mature into a young adult.
July 17 · Heike CullumMy daughter studied at The Ballet Conservatory for 10 years under the direction of Kelly Lannin and her talented staff of teachers who all had an impassioned love for the art of dance and its many forms. Classical ballet was my daughter's first love, and she was able to enjoy jazz, modern, tap, and musical theatre, as well. The studio was our second home. As the saying goes, "It takes a village." Hard work, persistence, determination, dedication, and an unyielding desire to be your best are a few of the things that my daughter learned during her time at The Ballet Conservatory. Not only will your child learn to dance from the best, she will learn important life lessons that will ensure success wherever life takes her. I highly recommend The Ballet Conservatory!
