Connecticut Dance Physical Therapy LLC Introduce
Welcome to Connecticut Dance Physical Therapy LLC, a specialized and highly-regarded physical therapy practice located in Stamford, CT. Unlike a general physical therapy clinic, this practice is singularly focused on the unique needs of performance athletes, particularly dancers, gymnasts, and figure skaters. This specialization means that the team, led by founder and director Samara DiMattia, understands the specific biomechanics, strains, and emotional toll that injuries can take on these athletes. The clinic's philosophy is not just about physical recovery; it is about providing a nurturing and supportive environment that addresses the whole person, helping them not only heal but also regain confidence and passion for their craft. For dancers in Connecticut, this is a place that truly speaks their language, offering an expert level of care that goes far beyond what a standard physical therapist can provide.
The expertise of the team, especially Samara DiMattia, is a key pillar of the practice. With over 25 years of experience working with elite performers and a background as a professional dancer herself, Samara brings a personal and profound understanding of her patients' struggles and goals. Her knowledge of complex areas like fascia and her methodical, precise approach to treatment are frequently praised by those she has helped. As one professional dancer review highlights, her guidance was instrumental in a serious injury recovery, teaching the importance of "slow recovery, patience, and following medical advice." This expert, yet warm and kind, approach is what makes Connecticut Dance Physical Therapy a go-to for professional athletes and "normal people" alike who want to be treated with the highest level of care. It is a place where you're not just a patient; you're a partner in your own recovery journey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Samara is the best. She helped put me back together again. Not only is she a complete expert in the types of injuries, strains and sprains dancers deal with but her knowledge of fascia really impressed me. I trust her judgment completely and appreciate how she’s focused on helping me achieve my health and fitness goals. Plus, she’s so much fun and puts everyone at ease. Bedside manner = 10 out of 10. I’m so grateful for the HSS doctor that referred me to her in the first place!
July 30 · Mariah ChaseSamara is a huge part of the reason I was able to have a professional dance career. After a serious injury in my pre-professional training, she was the one who helped me to understand the importance of slow recovery, patience, and following medical advice.Even though the young dancer I was certainly wanted to race ahead and see improvements ASAP, this is simply not possible with a demanding field like ballet. She is methodical, precise, and more knowledgeable than any regular PT would be for a dance or ballet specific injury. On the other side of professional life, she still treats any lingering problems I experience as a dance teacher and “normal person” with the same expertise, warmth, kindness, and knowledge. In all likelihood, if I had kept dancing on my overuse injury I might have been looking at a joint replacement before 30. Can’t recommend her enough, and the pros know she’s the best person to go to in CT.
July 10 · Madeleine CorbettWe are so fortunate to have a PT in CT that has the knowledge and experience dancers and athletes require. My daughter was a pre professional student at JKO, ABT and had a labral tear at 14. At the suggestion of Dr. Phillip Bauman of NY, we went to Samara for help.My daughter had to stop dancing completely in order to heal while seeing Samara for PT. Slowly& thoughtfully Samara worked with her and she returned to dancing and went on to dance professionally! We couldn’t be more grateful for her guidance and expertise! She is honest, knowledgeable & really cares about what is best for each individual. We highly appreciate and respect her. Thank you
July 09 · Michele PurcellWhile I am neither young nor a dancer, Samara was recommended to me as a solution for chronic ankle pain and hallux rigidus. While I have worked with a number of capable physical therapists, Samara is incredibly knowledgeable and draws on a variety of techniques and experiences to create holistic solutions for long-term improvement. Under her care and guidance, I have regained mobility and improved my gait. We are now working through my recovery after a meniscal root tear. Samara and her team are always warm, supportive, and encouraging. I couldn't imagine working through these challenges with anyone else. My advice is to listen to what "Samara says..."
July 13 · P HMy experience with CT Dance Physical Therapy was disappointing. Despite attending for four months and completing all assigned exercises, my daughter showed no improvement and actually worsened. The owner was visibly frustrated with me when I expressed concern about the lack of improvement. In contrast, after switching to a new PT facility, my daughter is already seeing improvement in just THREE SESSIONS and we are so thankful for that! On a positive note, CT Dance PT has a clean and bright facility; however, based on our personal experience, I cannot recommend them for treatment.
